  • Thank you very much, Jon. I looked on the site and it says that Preference Manager requires OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
However, I am using OS 10.5.8 (Leopard)
Do you know if it will work with my OS? Or, alternatively, is there an older version that will work with OS 10.5.8?
Thanks very much for your help.

Thanks very much, Daniel. The reason I ask is because, though my video looks good up until I output the .mov file, when I go to the last stage of DVD creation, the quality drops off significantly. I realize conversion to mpeg-2 is a big step, but I was wondering if color space could be a main factor.
What I am seeing in going from .mov to DVD is that the image tends to look very “contrasty” and/or washed out. I’ve never worried about color space before, and only recently have begun to wonder about its impact on final image quality. It sounds like (from what you’ve said) that I definitely should aim to keep my blacks and whites within RGB 16 – 235. Do I have that correct?
Again, thanks so much for your help.

  • Hi, again, Dave. I went to the site. There are many apps. Do you happen to know the name of the one for resetting the Preferences?
    Thanks,
    Vic

  • Thanks very much, Dave. I will definitely check it out.

  • Thanks, Dave. Actually, I am relatively new to FCP7, and haven’t really “tweaked” the settings much at all. It’s pretty much as it is when I purchased it.
So, then, are you saying I can simply trash the Preferences and that will take care of it?
Would you be kind enough to outline how I go about trashing the Preferences?
Thanks so much for your help!

    Hi, Michael:
I went to their website, and the only version I could see available for download was for more recent OS. I just wondered if a previous version of BitVice may be available.
    Thanks,
    Vic

Hi, Michael. And, thanks for the advice. I’ve never heard of BitVice until now, but am interested. I’ve just checked and have seen a version that works with mac os 10.6, but I am using os 10.5.8 (and would like to stay with that, …my other programs run on it!).
Do you know if BitVice is available for 10.5.8?
    Thanks again!
