  • Someone on reddit told me the same thing. I’ll see if I can make form do it.

  • The first suggestions is almost what I want, except then the particles themselves are moving. I want the particles to remain stationary, but have the wave energy move through them. I don’t know if that makes sense, but I’m not sure that’s actually possible in Particular the more I look around!

This is definitely one way to do it, but I was hoping to find a way to do it where I could then snap the clips to the correct timestamps, like when you snap them to coincide with an existing clip, without having to use the playhead to find the correct frame each time. I can do this easily in one project by just snapping them to the clock animations, but being able to do it in multiple projects without recreating it each time would be awesome.

For sure, here’s the project file, with “before” and “after” comps. If you can let me know how to stop the whackticity that’d be awesome!
    Thanks!

October 15, 2018 at 1:14 pm in reply to: Reveal shine effect with particular?

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply. I did that, and it worked! But I’m confused on why it doesn’t work when I have it structured like this:

    -Particular Comp
    -Ball comp (shine applied)

Instead, if I precomp the particular and ball comp together, and then apply shine to that, why does it all the sudden work? I don’t understand the logic of it. Do you know why it’s like that?

    Thanks a bunch!

  • Hi, that did it. Thanks so much for the help! I almost cried when I saw it finally working.

  • Hi,
First of all, thanks SO much for the reply! I’ve been trying to do this for a week and finally I’m coming close. I did everything you said, but the background particles still change twice each bass hit, and the background reverts to frame 1 between each bass hit. Here’s a link to the project file if you could take a look. “Main” is where I’ve been trying to put this together, and Sprites _4mov is layer I want to effect.
    Thank you !

As a sidenote, could I alternatively use soundkeys with a none/integrate falloff, then use an expression that ignores output of 1 on consecutive frames, then link that to particular’s random seed? That way with each hit it counts up one random seed? To do that though, I think I’d also need to create a particular that has particles present at a given frame but doesn’t produce any additional particles.
