I was previously using Sony Vegas 7, not the Movie Studio. I still have my old Vegas installation on my computer, so I can just go ahead and get rid of Movie Studio 9.

After having a look at Sony’s website for myself, I see that there is a Sony Vegas Pro 8. Now, that would be the proper update to my current software, Sony Vegas 7, right? And if so, is it worth the upgrade? The main thing I want right now is something that will use more of my CPU to render videos. With Vegas 7 it’s using around 40-50% of my q6600 to render. I feel like I could be getting a lot more out of it :S

Thanks for the suggestion 🙂 I’ll look into buying Quicktime Pro. The replacement is certainly worth $35.

I used DivX mainly because I liked the compression rates I could get using it. I have slow internet, and I upload a lot of my stuff to youtube, so I have a real need to keep compression high while maintaining quality. DivX did that very well for me, but if there’s an alternative that can produce video that looks very much the same as it does before being rendered and keeps file sizes to a minimum, I’d like that very much ^^

Any suggestions to replace my beloved DivX codecs?
