July 15, 2008 at 4:34 pm in reply to: Not sure where this goes – Adobe Soundbooth – betaI have SB1 and I’m test SB2 beta and I have to admit it’s not bad either one. But, that being said, by far audition is so,so,so,so-much better, did I say so?(smile) I learned audition first and did the basic recording cleaning mixing audio. When I got CS3 it came with SB and I could no longer do the some of the basics. It made me realize I was really proficient in Audition and needed it to keep doing what I needed. If I had to make a decision on getting SB or AD I would spend the extra $150 for greater control/ability and get Audition. I use a mac now and put my audition on the bootcamp side.
Hope this helps

I’m running FCP and CS3 Master- I like both, but i have to give it up to Adobe with all the have missed in fixing the suite (my opinion) the adobe bridge pushes FCP out the water. Being able to edit in PPro and FIx some audio in audition or sound booth, add f/x in After Effect, fix a Picture – all in the time line of PPro with only a right click. After the right click which ever program you need to go in to you make you changes and you don’t have to move anything if you did something to a picture in updates in the PPRO time line – no removing old and re-inserting the new. When I’m in FCP thats when i realize how much time i save in adobe. Now since Adobe is on the Mac it’s great. On http://www.tv.adobe.com there is a FCP editor talking about the great use of CS3
hope this helps

You need to have someone convert the ppro project file from 1.5 to CS3 on a windows machine then you will be able to open it on a MAC CS3 machine but – I suggest you use boot camp on Mac and load windows xp and install you ppro1.5 there so you don’t have this problem in a time crunch situation.
– I hope adobe fixes this issue in cs4

I don’t have the plug in , but it looks like you can create the look with mercury effect in AE. I’m not sure how to get the splash at the bottom of the image but you can key frame the birth size and death over time and have it file a mask of the person – play around with an image with the back ground keyed out, if the person is moving to really get it to look right you will need to roto each frame. i have just played with a pic it seems to be able to do what you want with the exception of the splash at the feet, for splashing i would have to defer to someone else.
hope this helps
