Here’s what I got from BMD to get it working:

Resolve needs to communicate directly with the Eclipse CX. With this in mind, remove the Eclipse Software if it’s installed and reboot. You should now be able to connect to the Eclipse.

If you have the Eclipse CX directly connected to the computer, make sure of the following:

    1. The network configuration of the computer is set to ‘Manual’,
    2. Set the IP address of the computer different than the IP address of the Eclipse CX.
    3. Configure Resolve with the IP address of the Eclipse CX.

    For example,
If the Eclipse CX is set to 192.168.254.101 then set the computer to 192.168.254.102 and configure Resolve to find the Eclipse CX at 192.168.254.101.

The IP numbers are arbitrary as long as they are compatible with each other.

If you use a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, that means that the first three numbers must match otherwise, the computer or Eclipse will ignore the Ethernet traffic. Thats why both devices start with 192.168.254.xxx.

When you use DHCP (automatic) settings, the computer will get its settings from the router. If no router is present, the computer will self assign an address like 169.254.xxx.yyy.

Because the first three numbers don’t match between the Eclipse (192.168.254.101) and the computer (169.254.127.111), they won’t be able to communicate with each other.

Hello, I’m having a similar issue with Yosemite. Wondering if the IP address on the panel must correspond to the one in System Preferences? And if you are recognizing with DHCP (with or without manual address?) Of course I’ve already set the same IP on the panel and in Resolve.

    Dwaine,

I tend to stay away from betas as they can be unstable, I guess you’d recommend updating though?

  • Peter,

The main limitation on the Lite version is that you only can apply two nodes. Doesn’t get you very far in a client session. I recently had a session where we applied 13 nodes in some shots. In this way Resolve Lite is a “gateway drug” that hits its limitations fast, encouraging you to upgrade.

Just an FYI people make sure you go to Prores. Might sound like a no-brainer but I had someone use Apple Motion Jpeg for some reason I cannot understand and it was not working due to this.

    Gil,

What was the product that was $99 that you found after Googling? Worth it / not worth it?

September 12, 2010 at 2:51 pm in reply to: Quicktime Chroma on Black and White Footage?

    Jeremy,

    I’m on Final Cut 7.0.2, Mac 10.6.4, Quicktime 7.6.6 (I have 10 but like 7 better) and Color 1.5.2.

    Rafael,

When in the scopes the chroma does disappear on the vectorscope if you completely desaturate using the 3-way.

    Rafael,

I was referring to the A/V controls when you hit command-K in Quicktime Pro. There seems to be a cyan/magenta tint…which as I read up on YUV means both positive U and V values. So maybe as you desaturate in the 3-way it still retains the color information?

The reason I’m employing the 3-way CC is to have a more efficient workflow with Color as it retains your 3-way settings…as far as I know it is the only effect that carries over.

Thanks for the explanation, it’s helped me to understand where the issue may be coming from. Any other info you have would be helpful.
