Yes, this helps. I tried it. I sent to color. I copied the graded clips to a new sequence where I assembled the photos, slugs and final audio mix. I then went to color to regrade one clip. I rendered in Color, then, when I went back into FCP, the clip magically updated with the new grade. AWESOME. At least there was one good thing about Color.

No, don’t do interlaced. Interlaced footage doesn’t look nearly as good. If your output is a DVD, then keep in progressive. If your output is the computer screen, you DEFINITELY don’t want to interlace.

I say make your sequences 30p (29.97). That way your conformed material actually will be 50% slower than normal.

And to answer your question, if you want some footage at 30p and some at 60p, then your two options are to:

1. Have 2 copies of every clip: one conformed to 30 and one at the final output sequence setting.
2. Have just one copy, conformed to 30p. In cases where you want it to play at normal speed, do a simple speed change to 200%.

Stay away from the Marsh 5 inch. It’s not that much bigger than the on-board LCD and it has power issues. It won’t take Panasonic batteries, only AA and burns through them like toilet paper.

Also, you might consider going used. Get one with HDMI input, as the 150 has HDMI. You can use Component out too. Might be able to get a better used monitor for the price if you go with the older Component only monitors. HDMI is newer and probably fewer used ones out there.

Except that I don’t care that much about the “big” sensor. I know it’s the way you have to do it from a marketing side. But CMOS sensors have limitations. I’d rather have a CCD sensor, even if it’s smaller. Even the RED has a CMOS sensor and it’s annoying.

Oh, and I don’t want to attach anything to the camera. That’s the point of a video camera. I might as well buy a DSLR if I’m going to start attaching things to my camera and make it awkward to move into and out of my bag, and hop into taxi’s with, or get in and out of rickshaws.

Yeah, I agree about the price. If the camera can be under $10,000, then I’d take a serious look. $4000 is a good entry point for “professional.” But for those of us that are “professional” but can’t quite afford a $30,000 setup to get to the next level…

Oh, I’d add one more feature for this price range that I really want: USB host mode. This way I wont have to bring my 6lb, 15″ MBP into the field with me and on trips with me just so I can copy of the contents of my data cards onto a hard drive. The nexto and other devices seem fine, but they are more expensive than a laptop. I’d be happy if my camera had host mode like some of the pricier Panasonics.

Almost the answer. That price certainly reflects the range I’m willing to pay. However, it’s size is too big. I don’t want that size. Besides, with that camera, you need to buy big, heavy batteries.

I have used that camera and it produces a great image.

The T2i hack is what was missing for me. I already had been using 7D and 5D footage. Freaking annoying that Canon doesn’t update this file. I mean, c’mon. How long has the T2i been out? Get it fixed.
