How to upload T2i footage onto FCP?
Hey fellas,
I’ve already done research on uploading t2i footage onto FCP. I understand I need to hack the Canon Plug-in, already have. I also understand I need to create a disk image for the SD card, which I already know how to do.
Now all i really want to know is a clear and simple walkthrough for using the Log & Transfer method. I want to be able to use the logging bin and have control over the footage.
Or
I can also just simply hook up my t2i through the usb it came with, convert them to apple pro res, and simply drag them onto FCP, but I’m not sure if that is, “okay” or the “professional” thing to do. I don’t think I even need to convert them, i’ve dragged .mov files straight from my t2i folder, and FCP automatically converts them.
Which way is the right way to go? Simply dragging files into FCP or through the complicated Log & Transfer?

The T2i hack is what was missing for me. I already had been using 7D and 5D footage. Freaking annoying that Canon doesn’t update this file. I mean, c’mon. How long has the T2i been out? Get it fixed.

Transcoding to prores is the professional way to do it. It’s also the simplest.
FCP does not automatically convert your files. You don’t need to convert them to import into FCP, but you will have a lot of problems editing if you don’t.
Just plug in your card, let the files transcode over night, and never have to deal with it again.
