    Thanks Filip, that’s super useful.

I noticed the problem you mention because it sets all my motion path tangents to their default when I run the script, which is a major hassle and makes me avoid using it unless the need is dire. I started to look into fixing the previous script, and quickly realized it was no simple fix and I was out of my depth.

    Looking forward to using this!

I was getting really frustrated about this as well, and a script solution sounded clunky. Luckily I kept searching and found Aharon Rabinowitz’s tutorial here:

    https://library.creativecow.net/articles/rabinowitz_aharon/AE_Shortcuts/video-tutorial

The file location has changed since then, but a simple search for “After Effects Shortcuts” in the windows toolbar found it for me.

For the record, I wanted to change the easing shortcuts to something I could access without looking down at the keyboard — moved them to 1,2,3 on the num pad, much better.

The lack of this feature is astounding to me! It’s still absent from CS5.

I’m just finishing a jazzed-up slideshow motion graphics piece, where the client said towards the end “it’s too fast, add 1 second to each image”.
Oh boy. That was fun. Thanks so much to Filip Vandueren, your script really saved me.

If any scripters want to write a more advanced script that adds or removes frames (in the same way f5 does in flash, pushing start/end markers of layers and extending tweens), that would be incredible.

  • Hey, thanks for the reply. That’s a good solution late in a project, but I’m hoping to avoid doing that for every little timing tweak.

This same issue comes up if I want to add 10 frames in the middle of a complex composition. First moving trimmed layers forward, then moving keyframes forward. Then making sure I didn’t mess anything up. In that case too, I could pre-compose, split, time-remap the first segment and add the frames I wanted. I was hoping there was just a secret hidden “add frames here” button.

I suppose I could avoid this by just never trimming layers (and toggling visiblity with keyframes, time-remapping to control when things should play), but it’s so much less confusing to look at with trimmed layers.
