I’m not certain that live streaming is all that the TriCaster does differently. There’s live keying and virtual sets as well. Something the BMD switches don’t do, I think. Live streaming is probably as simple as adding a driver hook so that AME3+ can use the software as a camera, if of course it doesn’t already. It should take them a short bit of work to enable it in software. Hopefully they will be able to support demand for a product like this.

I did! At NAB I went to the blackmagic booth and got the answer that there is no intent to support 480P regardless of what the advertising says.

Yup, AE was the ticket 🙂 It just takes me a little longer to edit in AE for something simple and I’d love to see vector scaling in premiere, maybe even just on import? I dunno, seems like a decent crossover feature as all other production apps have it!

Yeah that’s basically where I’m at too and I’m too busy to sit down and make the call to support and wait. Lemme see if some of my old email addresses for BMD people still work.

As he says below, the process is the same for Mac. It’s more about the SD card file structure than what computer you do it on. As long as the firmware image is in the right directory in the SD card, you are all ready to go.

February 18, 2011 at 10:12 am in reply to: Decklink HD Extreme Component in and out DEAD!Not to ask a stupid question but: if both in and out aren’t working and nothing major has occurred physically, how about the settings in the decklink control panel? Are you set to input/ouput to component analog and not HD-SDI or HDMI or something other?

February 17, 2011 at 2:13 am in reply to: Keeping HD Ext. 3 displaying video from Input to OutputAnd what I mean by this is that there is an NTSC SD signal coming from the analog composite out while there is a 1080i signal coming in on analog composite and displaying in a 1080i window on my screen as well as showing me a 1080i HDMI preview.
Am I missing something?? That’s exactly what I want it to do, I just want to be able to do other things on the computer (such as operate a software switcher for the stream I’m running!)

Here’s the thing, I had an app DO this very thing once, maybe by mistake, it kept the output open even while it wasn’t in focus. When I try to use the mediaexpress it doesn’t keep the output open when out of focus unless currently capturing.
So, the thing is it DOES simultaneously downconvert while i’m not on a timeline. Am I getting this wrong? Is my card a mutant?

Please do share any results. I have had this problem for over a year now. I swapped motherboards a while back and I’ve got the previously mentioned Gigabyte now. Might move over to that Asus you mentioned but the limited compatibility on this card has already cost me more than three times what the card cost me. I’m dying to know what the problem is. I’ve changed every component on this workstation systematically and have come up short every time still.
Out of curiosity, do you get unexplained dropped frames as well?
