I’m not seeing anything other than a creative use of jump cuts. Is there a specific time on this video which has the effect?

Philip. Weird bug. I have been waiting for this to happen to me and I thought it did once but it was just user error on my part.
Would you mind creating a screen cast of what is happening and posting it for us to see? Perhaps we can better help you. Especially since you have had it happen on multiple machines.

This appears to be a known bug. I have reported it to Apple, but it would be great to share your feedback to because “the squeaky wheel gets the grease.”

BTW. It is no joke when Apple says they read all the comments to that form. They really do read all the feedback.

Something that is probably overlooked is the lack of rendering in FCP X compared to Color. I just did a 20 minute interview project and it would have been laborious and very time consuming to color correct in FCP 7/Color. Because of the quick turnaround in the past I probably would have left it uncorrected. However now in FCP there is no need to render, just color correct and export. A huge time savings, and frankly forcing me to do better work.

Bezier shape tool for color correction and also a “masks” parameter for every clip. Kinda like cropping but with a bezier.
And tracking off that shape too! One more wish list would be RGB and Luma curves. And oh yeah grading groups.
BTW. I think that a bunch of folks have dismissed the color correction tools in FCP X, mainly because of the color board. But now that my initial reaction has worn off I realized I like it very much and I realize it is very thoughtful. Making hue adjustments has become second nature and can do pretty much everything I did in Color with the exception of tracking (but frankly that didn’t work very well) and custom shapes.

Well if you had the talent lip sync it would be easier but if you can just don’t use the audio front the multi angle clip, instead have you audio separately. Then you can slip the video all you need to.
Unfortunately you can’t slip video to a subframe, so I’m sure it is going to be a little off.

Well first of all I’m glad to hear you actually finished a project. I rarely ever actually do that. My projects just go on forever. 😉
So your screen capture, is that what you wanted to happen, or what actually happened when you synced. i.e. the clips in camera 2 appeared well before the clips on camera 1, 3 or 4.
Final Cut can only sync based on what is there in the clip. Audio, Timecode, Content Creation time or Markers. So if you didn’t get any of those when you were recording then you have to sync manually.
Does that make sense?

All you need is something constant for it to sync too. In my case the h4n audio. The problem with the Canons I used is there is no real timecode. There is capture time and audio but that is it. If you don’t have either one of those they it is going to prove difficult.

I don’t think there are any shortcuts if you are going to iDVD. Just export each to ProRes, then bring them into iDVD and it will take care of it.
However, if you have DVDSP or other authoring system I believe you could get a bit better quality by one of the following:
1- bringing those full-sized prores files and downsizing in FCP X and then MPEG2 in compressor.
2- if you have the time (and it will take a ton of time) export from FCP X using compressor to MPEG 2s.Personally I have been using the 1 pass MPEG2 files that are generated when you choose “Share > DVD” and then brining those into DVDSP for authoring. The quality is not perfect, but it is quick but good for my purposes (to share with a client).

Jared I think I know what is happening. You need to make sure that each clip is labeled with a camera and angle. Here is a shoot from last Friday:
