I find myself using shift-Z to fit the entire timeline and then holding z and drawing a marquee to zoom on the area I want to work on.

To do it simply. No. Those must live in the Motion Templates Folder.
However if you want to mess with symlinks you could move it to another location, sorta.

However, why do you want to move it?

It is true that Multicam clips can’t be separated, but you should have all the control you need by selecting just the audio channels you need and “create” a clip that has just the elements you want that you would normally break apart.
We do quite a bit as or normal dual system recording and end up with 3 or more mic sources. In this example below, 7D Camera audio, a H4n Mic (stereo) and a Rode Video Mic (dual mono).
Here is the inspector settings for the clip in the timeline:
And here is the timeline with audio components expanded:
It is pretty amazing when you use it.
Does this help?

February 26, 2013 at 12:51 am in reply to: Exporting a series of clips on the timeline to a folderYou can surely do that in FCP X, but there is no batch functionality… yet. (That is not an insider information “yet”, but just a hopeful “yet”.)
1. You would need to select each clip individually and create a create a compound clip (Option-G)
That will add a compound clip with all the effects & cc baked in.2. Now you will have to select those clips individually and share them from the event browser. You can define a default share such as master file which would create a prores file.
The only good news here is that you don’t have to wait for the exports to complete, that will be done in the background.
I wish it were different.

I haven’t seen or heard of any audio format restrictions in FCP X. I have synced a large amount of double system sound and never had a problem.
Are the audio/video files out of ordinary? What are they exactly?

Is there a picture of an error message that you are trying to post? If so we’re not seeing it.
If not you mentioned a message, what does the message say?

February 25, 2013 at 7:55 pm in reply to: Alpha Problem in FCP X that docent happen in FCP 7I think I have a fix for you. In “Info” Settings View, Change the Alpha Handling to Straight and then in the timeline itself set the Compositing Blend Mode to “Premultiplied Mix”.
This might not be prefect, but at least there are no halos or artifacts. How does it look to you?
