Thank you Greg, be safe brother.

I return to Major league baseball tomorrow and it will look very different. Doing a game in an empty stadium will be something I never imagined doing. Setting up today and seeing the emptiness, it’s just a different world. We are going to do our best to try and bring a little bit of normalcy to the lives of some folks while we commit to safety and beating this thing so we can all get back and most importantly protect the most vulnerable among us.

[Joe Marler] “What if the Apple Silicon MacBook was the same size and weight as an 12.9″ iPad Pro + keyboard, had 2TB SSD, faster GPU,”
Yes, I personally would rather use that any day of the week.

[Oliver Peters] “There are quite a few people who have a desktop for home/office and a tablet for when they are away “
Yes, I could see prepping my footage on an iPad on the plane on the way back but I would want to prep in the the app that matched the NLE I was going to finish in. If I’m going to finish in X I would use X on the pad. I guess what I’m asking is, what is the advantage of using LumaFusion to prep if I’m going to finish in X? Or any other NLE to finish?

[Oliver Peters] “I’m not sure what FCPX would bring to the table on an iPad.”
I’m not sure why anyone would want to edit on an iPad if they had a laptop. Seems cumbersome to me.
If you liked X and and wanted to edit on an iPad what’s the upside to switching to that software?

[Tim Wilson] “Can you tell what you’re doing with it? What about Motion was so compelling that compatibility with Motion was your go-no go for adopting X?”
Hahahaha I know it sounds crazy Tim, I admit it. I wasn’t really doing anything super over the top, just making dollar bills fall from the sky, glowing radioactive signs, but clients seemed to like stuff I was coming up with in it.
I could do anything that came to mind with it and I really hadn’t trained on it at all. I found it simple to use and It allowed me to do more than simple cutting in the timeline.
I didn’t know much about X when it came out but I heard from some people that it was a toy and not a real NLE. I thought if it were a toy it wouldn’t need Motion and Apple would kill it and I would go back to Avid and start working with AE.
Once I saw that they had a new version of Motion to go with it I figured X might not be a toy, so I decided to try it.

I love Motion. I was using it before X came out and I actually wan’t going to look at X if they didn’t have a new version of Motion with it. Once I saw they did, I decided to try FCP X out and have stuck with them both since.

It could be if the editor is happy with it. If they are not it isn’t.
[greg janza] “The editor also wins because he or she has much greater flexibility in their work day. No wasted time commuting and a flexible work schedule which allows for work/life balance – like taking care of children, doing laundry, grocery shopping, etc.”
Some people would rather decide for themselves what’s a benefit to THEM.
I remember a case where a worker was told that they weren’t going to be working there as much but that they would have more time to spend with their kid. Their “kid” was in college out of state. Not a benefit at all.
Yes, for the people who are good with it no problem. Some people are trying to maximize their money to pay for their kids college, or whatever. Just tossing it out there.

It sounds like you are setting up a scenario where a person who’s “choice” it would be to give their gear away and not charge for it would be in a position to undercut Warren, who does want to charge.
That’s the upside of the “union relationship” it seeks to try to prevent the undercutting or “race to the bottom” if you will.

[greg janza] “When the content is genuine and compelling it really doesn’t matter if it’s shot vertical. “
I have to agree with Greg on this one. The message overrides technical critiques at a time of uncertainty, when people are afraid and unfortunately not enjoying each other’s company the way they should.
They are saying, it doesn’t have to be that way. You can rise above the negative situation and not only bring joy to your family but to the families outside of your own tiny space. You can find beauty in all of this, you just need to be willing to see it.
When that girl whose dad created an ocean inside their home plays that video 20 years from now for her child, she won’t care about the framing. She will say, “Look at this…………..My dad loved me.”
