I had done my first project with it and the client wanted some changes. It was a snap moving things around in that timeline after you had already built a bunch of elements.
I found it fast to assemble stuff and fast to change things around.

You can grab a huge group of elements by grabbing one clip and they all travel together.
Drag them all down the timeline and drop them in a spot in seconds.
Other NLE’s can be in a ripple mode but they don’t have connected clips

Very cool Richard, thanks for the post and the pics.
I have never used a DAW myself. Would like to learn more about this side of the table.
[Richard Herd] “You can see in the top left a bunch of Photoshop type of tools, where it’s literally possible to paint out sounds. In this case , I erased a whirring heater that we could not turn off because it was 17 degrees that day. “
This is an awesome feature that RX has also. I am not up to speed on it yet but there are some things I want to paint out. To use this part I think I have to send out of X to the stand alone version of RX

[Richard Herd] “It also seems the audio issues with X are moot if the audio is sent to a DAW”
Richard, this has been puzzling me for a while on here. If you are sending audio out anyway how big a deal is it.
Am I wrong in thinking that X is geared toward someone who wants to do everything inside this one program?
Isn’t that why logic’s tools and all the plugins and color have been moved inside X?
If I could do everything I needed to do inside one program I would prefer that.

Hi Herb,
I’m with Bret on this, I don’t know why he used a gap clip. It works without that.
It’s not really something I use personally, I just saw the video last night. I just use the fade handles as I listen to each cut multiple times until it sounds right to me. It only took me like 15 seconds to create it in Motion one time and it’s in there for the future.
I just tossed it out there for the discussion.
I do now remember seeing that video for Alex’s plugin and forgot about it. It looks cool also.
I don’t know how often I will use it. I like doing it manually with the handles : )
Someone in my doc came over and wanted a change to something she said. I cut it out.
She looked at me and said, “wow, you can’t even tell” I thought to myself, yeah……that’s the point hahaha

Ok, but other people have been talking about this exactly.
Even when spencer put out his list of 10 things he wanted. Even HE wanted it.
There have been enough people talking about it for them to put this clip up.

I started off exporting to the stand alone version. You really have more control that way if you have something that really needs some work, but I have found that the plugin in X works pretty well also.
That Dialogue Denoiser is pretty sweet.
I tend to want everything to sound like it was recorded in a studio even when it wasn’t : )
The Declipper works well right inside of X also.
I still have more to learn on this program but they have gone a long way to make it more user friendly than the earlier versions I used.

I will let Oliver’s article do the heavy lifting but the most impressive thing it can do to me is fix clipped sound.
It used to be that if somebody handed you some overdriven clips you were kind of done.
This fixes even that. It’s worth the price of admission to me if that were all it could do let alone with it’s other tool set.

That could explain it. I was wondering why I din’t see more folks complaining about it.
Was it that they had newer hardware or not being as aggressive as I am with audio filters or what.
[Oliver Peters] “Have you tried a different user log-in to see if this is some sort of home user corruption?”
I have not. Thank you Oliver, I will try it and report back.

January 1, 2015 at 5:48 pm in reply to: RedShark News: Opinion: Which are the best NLEs right now?[Oliver Peters] “That’s precisely why I add a short crossfade to every audio edit in every NLE I use.”
I don’t think that would fix what’s going on for me. It seems to happen the more filters I add to the clip. Some times it does it and sometimes it doesn’t.
I should be able to grab that fader and pull it and never hear it but sometimes I hear it no matter how far I drag the fade. That part is weird. I have seen others complaining about it.
I wasn’t having that problem earlier. I also notice that X keeps trying to re-render things that have already been rendered even though background rendering is turned off. (I have seen that called a bug on here)
That’s also annoying.
I’m hearing audio drop out on playback sometimes on filtered clips and I think it’s because my computer is struggling to playback while that re-render is trying to go on at the same time.
