Gamma shifts were a problem with earlier versions of Compressor. Which version are you using?
I using 2.0 compressor. but if i try to import the quicktime for my fcp to encore it still have same problem. i let encore cs3 transcode my quicktime to mpeg2 stream for dvd.

I’m trying to find out where your gamma problems are happening. That’s why I’m suggesting these things.
– gamma problem when output to dvd mastering dvd studio/ encore.
– step. editing on fcp – output to quicktime – compression to mpeg2 dvd spec. – import to dvd studio – mastering dvd.how are you creating your mpeg-2 streams or h.264 streams?
– apple compression 2.0 for mpeg-2When you’ve burned this DVD, where are you watching it?
– watching on consumer tv or client tv.Are you comparing the mpeg-2 stream on the computer monitor to the burned dvd?
– I’m comparing the dvd with my timeline source and my original source from tape. You should not be having gamma shifts. We just need to find the one small step where things are going blooey.
-when i said gamma shifts. the video of the dvd is alittle darker then my timeline video or my original source. correct me if i wrong.
I thought wrong you see in the timeline of fcp is what you get in the final dvd mastering.? -
You’re using Encore to create you DVD’s, correct?
for SD i using dvd studio pro
for HD i using EncoreWhat codec are you editing in?
mpeg
h.264Have you tried using iDVD as a test to see if you have gamma shift with that?
not interesting in idvd. Are you watching these finished DVD’s on a calibrated monitor that’s in line with your broadcast monitor
yes, using AJA Kona LHE with output to broadcast monitor.
remember my source is great. problem is when mastering to dvd in sd or hd bd. -
sorry guys for reading my long forums. and my english might not be as good. but please help.
(hello Matti)
is this what you do and others guy been doing. MAC APPLE need to fix this problem. but i’m sure there a better fix then any workaround. I been reading alot of forums and search engine for the last 3 days. and found alot of people having the same problem but without an fix. just workaround.
by the way when i nesting to another sequence and add a filter gamma to the whole nesting sequence its doesn’t work, when i click on the filter tabs it take me back to the original sequence. Here my problem. my video source is goood with the right lighting exposure. but when i edit the viewer or canvas the video is little darker. but but my AJA Kona Lhe look pretty close to my original footage.
when i output to quicktime and encode to dvd mastering that when my gamma shift to darker. my video will look darker on the lcd tv. may seem like my camerman was shooting under exposure.
Thankyou all

THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. can someone tell me what i doing wrong.
My project is Mastering DVD sd/bluray
my problem when i watch my final dvd it look darker on the TV,
so what causing final cut or quicktime to add gamma automatic. i hate to finish a nice multicam and fix each cut to the lighter the gamma before ouput to quicktime.
my source is good. also look good on the kona output monitor.by the way i using AJA kona Lhe with mac pro quad. 4gb. etc.

only workaround i found is to add the gamma filters and minus some so it look lighter. and when i creat a master dvd it will automatic add the shift gamma. which look close to my original footage. but i shouldn’t be doing this.
