Thanks for the reply. Actually, the ads are for the theater owner to play at private events. They have a Dolby DC system plugged into a Barco 2K projector, and want to play this material at private functions. They are not using Screenvision at those events – so they need to have a digital media file that will play on the Dolby system.

What is odd is that no one says “To prepare media for the Dolby system, export your clip as …” They do day MPEG2 and that it will play from DVD, but apparently there is some confusion as to the native file format.

We’re looking for primarily a portable jib, but we’ll probably use it in our studio as well. For height, somewhere in the 9 to 12 foot range (6 seems too short, 16 to tall). A remote pan/tilt head would be nice, but not sure if it’s in our budget. I’ve seen a sort of manual pan/tilt arm that comes down from the camera position that another operator could maneuver.

Well, the EZ-Jib is around $1,200, and I think probably around $2,000 or so for a nice steerable dolly. We’d like to stay under $5,000 if possible. However, if all we’ll get is junk for under $5,000, please say so.

So with the combination of the Final Cut updates back in November, and Adobe’s Leopard updates, ya’ll think it’s generally a safe bet to switch over?

Yeah, that’s one thing I did know for sure, and have been doing from the beginning. I’ve heard that all hell breaks if the two drives begin to inter-mingle

I used Digital Juice at a previous job. Their stuff was pretty good. Do you know of any specific package or company that would have a “lower-thirds only” bundle?

I tried the In and Out points and it exported to the proper length. I’ve never done that before, didn’t think it was necessary. I guess I’ll try it from now on.

For this particular video I made a new sequence with an aspect ratio set to NTSC DV (3:2), with the editing timebase at 59.94 (the same as the HD footage). The QuickTime video settings for the sequence are:

Compressor: Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)
Quality: 100%

The thing is, for this specific video we needed to export it in the standard aspect ratio, but we’re normally working with sequences set to 1280×720 (HDTV 720p, 16:9). I tried exported a short HD clip on an “HD” timeline, and got the same black tail result.

I think your advice about going home early might be the solution. But I’m in the Midwest, so I’ve already stayed 20 minutes late.

The video was shot at 720p with a JVC GY-HD250. However, my sequence is set to DV NTSC (720 x 480). The adjusted the talking head to fit properly in the frame. Is that a no-no?

I’m exporting an uncompressed QT in the same 720×480 format.

The problem is that I don’t have the CONTENTS folder or the LASTCLIP.TXT file, just the MXF’s and BMP’s. I found a forum that explained sort of how to re-create them, but it wasn’t very thorough. Is that possible, and if so, how do I do it?
