The camera is called a PD-900WA the precessor to the SDX-900. Well before there was 24P there was 60P. The camera can record in dvcpro,dvcpro 50 interlace modes as well as 480 Progressive scan mode.
The downside is Apple never got this 60P codec into FCP althought there was discussion about it way back in 2000.
480P is a basically poor man HD and will uprez to 720P or 1080i quite well.
60P is great for slow mo high speed capture.

I spoke to Anton Bauer recently and they have a policy whereby they do not recell batteries.
There are however third party vendors who will recell Pro Pak 14’s but from my experience I have not been pleased with the results.
I also have been disappointed with the Hytron 100’s overall.

Yes unless you have a mattebox which lets you adjust the vertical placement of the filter as you zoom.
I have seen such units on Panavision matte boxes.
Another options is to use a filter software and do the grad effect in post via tracking the zoom move.

You don’t need to compromise and buy a LCD which is not suitable for serious CC. A cost effective option is to get either the Sony PVM-14L5/1 or 20-L5/1 CRT’s which are multi format monitors. You can view HD via the analog YRB inputs right out of the box. The monitors alone are less expensive than buying a Cinemas display and HD to DVI converter box (either the Blackmagic or Ecinema version).
Next purchase a video card which can output HD or SD YRB analog outputs and you can view that output on the monitor.
Do the right thing for your workflow and don’t experiment with LCD’s only to become disappointed later.

Buy a black burst generator now because if you don’t and ask the question once again Bob will let you have it. Trust me his next answer will hurt.
So run don’t walk to your nearest used equipment dealer or new gear VAR and buy your first ever black burst generator.
You will treasure you BB generator for years to come as both of you grow old and the other gear becomes outdated five minutes after you purchase them.
Even a non functional BB generator can make a wonder gift to someone who can use it as a paper weight, door stop, cool piece of gear to put in a rack, or for storing in a closet.

According to the Apple stores here in LA May 18th is the expected release date.
What happened to that rumor last weekend implying FCP 5 would be available? Was this a joke or did anyone actually find FCP 5 somewhere?

Phil,
There is only one solution I trust and live by and that is Carbon Copy Cloner. It is shareware software which you can download for free. A donation is requested which you can decide to contribute.
CCC allow making a bootable clone of your main drive which makes it great for backing up an previous version of OSX and then “testing” out the latest update from Apple (which in some cases will screw up your life).
Whenever Apple releases a new update or OS I never upgrade without making a clone of my boot drive.
