I think he does mean mapping it to a mouse button. Many multi-button mice have this capability.

You explained yourself cleared; you didn’t understand the reply.

USB is not supported by Apple for use with video applications. You cannot use a USB connection for the purpose you want. The drive has to be connected via FireWire.

Depending on the drive and the camera try daisy-chaining the camera to the drive to the computer. This seems to work well for many cameras.

Make sure the drive has been correctly formatted. If it’s a new drive it may need to be zero-erased and reformatted for Mac OS Extended.

You can select an empty area or the edge on an empty area on a track because it is editable. You can ripple the empty area. You can delete it. You have to click out of the tracks to deselect.

Or use the keyboard short as Olivier wrote.

Six frames apart????

The clips have to be butting against each other. If both clips are at the limit of their available media there isn’t any space to overlap the clips during the transition and it will fail. You need to create the space for the transition by rippling back the two shots from the edit point to create the necessary handles (Apple’s term for it).
