iDVD is not part of the operating system. It was part of the iLife suite. It was sold separately or came bundled with earlier computers. It’s been removed from the suite and no longer comes with new computers because Apple doesn’t believe discs have a future. You will see more and more computers, particularly laptops being made with DVD drives.

If you have a choice the files should be in QuickTime DV or if the can in DVCPRO 50, which is a good codec to standard def and works with FCP. Or if you have the space get uncompressed, but it sounds like overkill for this media.

The only SD format FCP really works in is DV.

Another way that seems to fix this in the timeline is to toggle the Position tool on and off.

Can’t reproduce that. Maybe it’s something in the clip. Mine was a DSLR H.264 clip.
Curious why you’re duplicating a clip. I don’t think I’ve ever done that, except in an audition.
