November 7, 2008 at 7:08 pm in reply to: AE – Premiere Pro Import Problem

I just rechecked everything. Things seeemed to match. I guess I am going to have to re cut the shots in AE. Man this is going to take a while. Is there any way you know of to change the timecode in AE to the orignal clip time code? Other wise i’m going to have to count frames in premiere and convert that number over to the default AE timecode.

Do you know what the limiting factor is? I believe DVCPRO HD’s data rate is 5.8 – 14 MegaBytes/sec and a normal sata II drive I have tested at 60-70 MegaBytes/sec. If I do the math on the 70MB and the 14/sec it in theory should support 5 streams.

I am trying to build a hardrive solution that has some redudancy and be able to suppot a couple extra streams of video for the occasional occasions that I have a 3 – 4 multicam shoot. Do you think raid 0 +1 or raid 5 is the way to go?

Is there a reason why you need to render? I usualy just import my “.aep” files directly into premiere for editing using the CS2 production studio. That way if you need to go back and make changes to your AE file it automaticaly updates in premiere via dynamic link.

June 26, 2007 at 3:42 pm in reply to: Dell 2707wfp good for Motion Graphics?

I just bought a 24 inch ultrasharp and compaired to my old 19 4X3 dell lcds this thing is beautiful. Compaired to the old monitors the whites are white and blacks are clean black. My next step is to have the monitor calibrated and see what happens. BTW if you are going to be running dual monitors make sure you have a pretty good graphics card. My quadro 1400 is hurting with my current setup of 1) 24 inch wide, and 1) 19inch 4X3 dell monitors. You definetley want a graphics card with more then 128mb memory. Good luck

What about hardrive through put? Can one sata drive in raid 1 handle dvcprohd well? How about with 2 or 3 streams of DVCPro HD?

Wow thanks, It seemed to have worked like a charm. Is it a general good rule of thumb to uninstall old Xena updates befor installing new ones?

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I am using a Xena LHe and I am pretty sure I am running the 2.5.1 setup. I’m not sure how to check the version I am running but when I try to install 2.5.1 again it says I have a later version installed and won’t let me install over it. Which I figure it means it see the same version installed. I am almost positive i’m running 2.5.1 Let me know if there is any other info you need. I am need to get this fixed it doesn’t look too good when I have clients around when editing. So I have been just editing with cuts and switching cameras rather then the nice multicam feature.
    Thanks,
    Tom

I know on the mac with the Kona card you can share out your TV monitor as an extra desktop can you also do this with the Xena? I have been looking around and can not find any options. Being atleast able to drag a movie over to the extra monitor would be a perfect work around for me.

September 15, 2006 at 2:24 pm in reply to: Dropping frames problem

OK I just wanted to thank everyone for the help. I really think its a cool thing how people help other people out online. Thanks all.

So I figured it out. After running test after test and feeling like this is way more complicated then it could possible be, I started changing setting in the device control. So I went into the Device control and switched from XL1s (which is the camera I have) to XL1. When I switched the “laggy time code” and dropped frames disappeared. One of my early test was switching the deivce control to genereic and had the same issue which made me thing that this was not the problem.

Anyway thanks all and good luck
