Tim’s plugins are long since gone Bill. Website returns a dead URL.

The best way to do this is in Ae, but how you get a stereo effect from fisheye mono footage without doing depth passes and some kind of foreground/background mask is a new one for me.

Why do you need to fake the stereo? Couldn’t you just use after effects to convert a single mono stream into a 360 rectilinear file?

A – it’s not cheap unless you can program in unity or unreal
B – it’s not cheap unless you can create a VR environment in fusion or mystika or nuke, and even then, you need A – someone who can export this to unity or unreal to create the game experience
C – it’s not cheap unless you are happy with google cardboard (which is kind of sucky)
D – the only very cheap way I can think of doing it is by using after effects and then exporting from there to unity or unreal engine, but that still requires unity/unreal knowledge

Still shoot a lot of 3D, and some of it for VR applications too. Most of it in 6 and 8K

Blackmagic have already released a Quad SDI to Mini DisplayPort converter to get into the apple monitor – interesting.

I agree that it shouldn’t be purchased as an expected full grading panel to replace what is already there, but in the landscape of high resolution, high quality monitors, this one looks fantastic. I’ve tried the Dell equivalent 8K one and its awful. The LG 5K one is nice, but nothing in between.

Will definitely be investing in one. Or two.

If Red are on-board for the hardware acceleration with the afterburner card, that will be a massive boost in performance with the sweet spot for most post houses being a 16 core with a Radeon II and an afterburner card.

Almost bigger than the Mac Pro, is the display. 6K HDR, 1000nits with colour accuracy for grading, and £5k – are you kidding? A panel we use for grading cost £8000, does 1080p maximum, weighs a tonne and didn’t come with a stand either, and yes the stand cost more than you would expect!

Looks like a 3D model inside C4D or Ae. Video copilot had something t similar not too long ago.

    Hmmm….

    128GB of ram?

Yes Mac Pro and iMac Pro are on same OS and version of Ae.

2013 Mac Pro only has 32GB of ram but chews through it fine. iMac Pro crashes with errors saying it has run out of memory…

    Ah ok – nice tip.

I’ve got 2019 but it’s rendering to prores4444 with alpha. Purge quite often and this helps real-time performance but not rendering

Just keeps crashing on renders. Lucky enough to have a few 2013 Mac Pro’s to rely on for the Ae work. But Adobe is getting worse for bugs – Ae and Pr crash too often.
