I can see a big market for it, particularly as it becomes more and more possible to utilise VR and 3D VR via a smartphone and a cheap headset.
We’ve just assisted with a 3D VR music video which is due for release May 1st so hope to have something to show then.
As a storytelling medium the potential is huge, particularly for historical projects – like being immersed in a battlefield or inside Pompeii or whilst the pyramids are being built. The mix of CG with live action for 3D VR is going to be incredible, especially as the new lytro camera promises to change everything about CG work…

Um….I get cheques from one client all the time, and they are listed on the ftse100..?
I had a very similar scam which came from Abu Dhabi and is almost word for word the same as the rfp shown above. Filming a conference/fashion show at a hotel in London. They went away when we demanded payment of 50% up front

If you don’t think anything is missing, try highlighting all clips in the project and hitting cmd + c. This gets rid of the warning most times

Well, if you decide it is too much of a pain in the arse to ship/bring with you, I have a nice tripod mountable slider that can take heavyweight cameras that you can hire – you could just bring a nice box of lenses and I’ll supply the rest!

I did wonder if there was a fault on the Mac Pro, but the same thing occurs with all 3 of our machines. Each has different processors but all have max ram and d700s.
Maybe I should have bought one of the iMac 5Ks instead, and got a free screen!

Hi Todd,
Im 2hrs south of Edinburgh in York. If you get stuck for any equipment or need anything then just give me a shout and I can help you out. As has been suggested, tell your airline and you will need to declare the item for use with filming. Use hard cases for it as airline staff won’t understand its fragile nature!
Most hire companies should deliver to location, but check prices for this, and also check if any of the speciality equipment you are hiring is available from someone else nearby if you have any failures. Presuming you are near(ish) to Edinburgh its worth checking as replacements might not be as instantaneous as around London, Leeds or Manchester.
Enjoy the whiskey, steer clear of haggis and try and see some of the countryside. If you want to get in touch privately I can recommend some restaurants/pubs around Edinburgh for you.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the tips with this – I found that the best workflow was tagging everything for camera angle and camera name, and then adding markers to the clapperboard for each angle before creating the multicam.
One weird thing I am experiencing though, is that due to working on location, I’m working on a Macbook Pro (old 2012 version with 8GB RAM and r3d and ProRes files located on same 48TB thunderbolt RAID).
The performance of building multicam files is way faster. Like 4-5 times faster on Macbook Pro than on a new Mac Pro.
It plays back 4K r3d files in realtime which is stunning, and allows realtime cutting between audio. Brilliant.
Obviously exporting and effects are much slower, but this is an odd occurrence after spending another £7.5 each on 2 more Mac Pros when some MacBooks or even iMac might have done the job just as well for an edit assistant.

I’d like to be able to make it possible for effects and transformations that are applied to a file in one project, be able to duplicate across each instance of the clip appearing in the whole library. Yes, you can command c and then command v, but with multiple projects this gets very time consuming.
I’d like to be able to close projects that I’ve finished working on to save RAM.
I’d like to have more control over the type of h264 file that I encode without going to compressor.
I’d like faster audio waveform generation after loading clips to a project – Premiere does it in seconds and I’d love it if this was matched.
