Audio waveform and multicam performance
Don’t know if anyone else has experienced this but after being on location for 10 days I had to ingest and cut with a Macbook Pro Retina rather than a Mac Pro. After coming home I’ve tested performance and found that the Mac Pro performs worse (by far) than the Macbook Pro when ingesting r3d footage with audio, Pro Res with audio and building audio waveforms for all media, including desk recorded audio.
The macbook pro also builds multicam files 5 times faster than a Mac Pro, and aside from effects heavy work and exporting, is a good alternative.
Has anyone got any ideas why a £1600 laptop would outperform a £7.5k Mac Pro on FCPX?
Crazy…
