I work with four sets of Senn G3 wireless and your type of zzzzt zzzzt RF interference happens to me from time to time even though I’ve scanned and set up on a clear frequency block.

Once I check to see the antennas are not against bare sweaty skin and I check all cable connections, I seem to fix it by simply opening up the receiver and choosing another clear scanned block.

It’s awkward after wiring somebody up and listening to a clear signal, to have the subject walk 30 feet way and the zzzzt start … but I’d rather go right back to them and quickly hop up a frequency block or two than convince my producer ghosts messed up his tracks.

October 17, 2014 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Senn G3 TX Display Blinks After Power Off

    Non conclusive update:

After several days sitting on my desk the display blinking stopped, and a few days after that blinking would happen intermittently.

Sennheiser Tech Support sent me this reply:

” Usually when screen issues occur like that it’s because something actually breaks inside the pack and the unit then needs repairs from us. I have never before heard of a pack doing that and then suddenly coming back to normal days later without an official repair, so I would say you should consider yourself pretty lucky in that sense that it came back to life on its own. Most likely there is a loose connection somewhere between the pack and the screen causing issues and performace to come and go randomly. Usually when that happpens to the screen the pack will still work, but you will not be able to change any settings or the operating frequency since you cannot see the menus. I’m sure at some point soon the screen will actually go out and stay out, in which case you would def. want to look into having us repair the unit for you.”

December 5, 2013 at 2:23 pm in reply to: Scratch File to Black Magic Cinema Camera

The A-Box looks like the best solution, thanks. Wooden Camera says the box adapts to 1/4 inch balanced for each of two channels on BMCC. For a quick fix tomorrow, would connecting the Mix Pre D’s Tape Out via 3.5 mm trs cable > 1/4 inch trs adapter > camera work? Would I be feeding scratch into both L and R channels from mixer?

Sound Devices says tape out level is fixed -10 dBu. And I’ll tell the camera op to set to line level mode, I’ll feed tone from the mixer and they’ll set to -20 dBu on BMCC?

March 29, 2012 at 10:51 pm in reply to: How Split Stereo Audio To Two Mono Tracks

I believe I’ve found out two methods to answer my question … corrections gladly accepted :

    1) Setup a new project > Premier Pro > Preferences (on a Mac)> Audio

in the Source Channel Mapping area/ Audio Channels, choose Mono from the Default Track Format drop down menu > OK

Now when ever you pull a video clip with stereo audio track, or a stereo audio track, onto the timeline, the
audio tracks automatically show up as two mono tracks on the timeline.

    2) Select a video with stereo audio file or a stereo audio file in the Project Panel > Clip > Audio Options > Breakout To Mono

Now the video/audio files shows up with xyz.mov Left & xyz.mov Right underneath the original file in the Project Panel

Pull two broken apart mono tracks onto timeline.
