    Tero–thank you for the explanation.

Yes, that would work, but it is literally ten times the price of an unpowered switch box that does audio and video that I have found on Amazon. For my consumer needs, this might be more than I need.

Was the dialogue recorded on location or done afterwards? I ask because the film’s claim to fame is that it was shot entirely with a drone. Wouldn’t the drone make a lot of noise? I defer to those of you with much more expertise than I have, but it just seems to me that the drone would be really loud.

Richard and Ty–thanks for the tips and advice. I had not considered calling from my Skype account. I will definitely look into that.

I’m not having a problem with the mic, connector or otherwise. I was testing it out and purposely rubbed my fingers on it to see what the noise level might be. That got me wondering if there was such a thing as a sleeve for stick mics. Richard’s idea is a good one, but Brian you are correct–it really has no handling noise. I got the long-handled VP64 from ebay for $25 and it sounds and looks fantastic.

Simon–I didn’t have any particular model of monitor in mind. My question was just out of curiosity. But your point is a good one about matching.

Thanks for the answers Bill and Ty. Interesting takes on my question. BTW, if I only had one ear, I’d have to wear a monocle!

August 4, 2015 at 1:11 pm in reply to: USB to XLR not XLR to USB

    Ty and Richard,

Thanks for responding. I thought there was no such animal, but wasn’t sure. Ty–I have access to 2 AT2020 USB mics. I wanted to use them for a podcast interview. But I have some regular XLR mics I can plug into the Scarlet 2i2 interface, so that’s what I’ll go with. My question was more out of curiosity than anything else.

Here’s another question, again mostly out of curiosity. Is there a USB Y cord such that I could hook 2 USB mics into it and then the cord into the computer? Again, I’ve never seen such an animal.
