for playback, loading and pre-render editing, are you sure about the HD vs. SSD comparison? i notice an insane difference, especially using my newest addition, AVCHD files from my Panasonic GH2. i’m having my os put on another SSD soon, so i’ll have a complete setup with some super speed, or so i think.

btw, intel q9550 @2.83ghz, 4MB fast ram, 64 bit vista, AND a raptor 10K RPM drive (soon to be SSDs).

Interesting, I just found the joys of SS Drives. I have really upped my game and found that SSDs can make up for a multitude of high rez video files to cook. Maybe i’ll give that Vegas 10 a chance. I think one 2000 dollar machine should take care of most of my rendering problems.

Yes, according to Sony Creative Software tech support, Vegas Pro 10 does not allow network rendering. IMHO, this was an expensive addition to the software, and they probably got more calls than they wanted. Also, the average editor isn’t exactly the nerdy network guru, too (me included).

I’m giving up on 10 for now, since I want network rendering speed. I live in a 64bit world, but i need a little more horsepower.
