READ THE MANUAL DUMMY
I checked out the broadcast server manual and It said I could import a videoTS folder and it would convert it for me…….
Well I’ll be!!!!!!

I tried to just convert it to Mpeg with Streamclip. I got a good looking result in 3×4. When i tried to send it to my program server it was not recognized by the scheduling part of the software. I figured that the server would not really care what aspect the video was in but it seemed to. I chose convert to MPeg and i did not get any audio. I chose convert to mpeg with mp2 audio and that looked good but did not play on my server. Would convert to headed mpeg do me any good
I would not really need to convert this and remove the top and bottom if t would play out on our server.

I do not know if my broadcast server knows the difference. I would not need to change the aspect if the server would deliver it to the cable system the same as it receives it. If I give it a 3×4 mpeg2 it should play a 3×4 and likewise with the 16×9? Is this correct or is it most likely that my broadcast server is set up for a 16×9 feed?
I have several of these DVDs and I would like to do as little to them as posible to get them on the “air”

I test aired it. I just took it in FCP and processed it out. It came out filling the screen and cutting off the bottom and top. This is not the worst it could do but i would rather it go on with black sides.
I will try some more. -
I am looking through Mac software. I see a product called Final cut Server for $999 Loks like this would be the same price as returning the FCE and buying FC Studio.
Is there a FCP without the studio? We will most likely be doing rough editing on the second Mac and could get by without the peripherals.

Is there a way to get any “lite” version of FCP? or a second licence a for a corporate user that is a bit less expensive?
-
That is not good news.
I have had some trouble if i need to mix footage or graphics from one project to another or in the same project.
What would look best when it all comes out in the end. Usually I stick with one camera footage or the other to do a show. I know I will have to mix them up one of these days.
I am really lost if i need to bring in some old footage from some other video source.

That is a good question too. My FCP is version 6.0.3
The FCE is brand new so I assume it is the latest version.I am hoping that the project files will transfer.

I am not capturing any video We shoot everything to hard drive and transfer files. I am seeing presets in my FCP as HDV-720p30
I am using two different JVC cameras. The consumer model is a GZ-HD7U and I convert its files with Stream Clip to Apple DVCPRO 720p60 or Apple DVCPRO 1080i60
The other camera is a JVC GY-HD110 recording on an external hard drive to MOV format that transfers direct to the mac and drops into FCP
The files from this camera are 1280 x 720I process out with Compressor to send to our broadcast server mpeg2 files
720 x 404
I do not know if any of this is the best thing to be doing. I am just doing it the way the guy I replaced had it set up and editing as fast as I can.

I tried to lay them into the same directory but they are still not showing up when I am logged in as me in FCP effects. I can not seem to drag them into the efects browser either.
