Actually I think that the plastic duct that you removed is important to the proper cooling of your machine…but if it’s running OK, I could be wrong???

Call the people where you bought the camera and ask them. They should have a list of authorized repair shops. If not, go to Panasonic on-line and you should be able to find an address or phone number for maintenance and service. Be warned though, that it can sometimes take quite a bit of time to get your camera back. Nature of the business these days. Who needs customer service, anyway? Apparently we the consumers don’t…at least that’s the attitude of most of the equipment manufacturers.

I’ve had very good luck running Hitachi drives in Firmtek enclosures as RAID 0 arrays. Never so much as a hiccup in over two years.
The Hitachi drives have been very reliable over the years and offer twice the warranty of most other drives manufacturers.
I’ll be building another small RAID in a week or two for a smaller system at home and that’s the route I plan on taking again.

Judging from your post, I doubt that the problem with your camera is simply dirty heads. In the case of head problems, your video would have a “blocky” look with entire sections of horizontal information possibly missing as well. If the camera is showing this problem on the viewfinder while just simply sitting there, it’s not dirty heads causing it. There is most likely some electronic problem involved. This camera has a lot of ribbon-type connectors in it. If any of them are working loose, it can cause all kinds of problems. Also CCD blocks can go bad and cause all kinds of weird video problems. It could be just about anything, but I’s guess that it isn’t a case of dirty heads if the problem is showing up without actually playing a tape. I’d send it into a qualified repair shop for evaluation.

The Pioneer PRV-LX1 will do what you want. It has many premade templates in it for Menu options but will also make auto-play DVD’s that will play without displaying any menus at all.
We’ve had ours for a little over a year and it’s been great. It can also be configured with a second DVD drive which enables me to make two identical disks at the same time. Keep one for archiving and give the other one to the client or the duplicator. That way when he looses it, you have a spare. It also has a hard drive to store source materials and will burn DVDs directly from the hard drive.
The unit also features a 9-pin RS-422 port that can be used to control the machine remotely. It’s really designed to take in timecode info from a tape and put itself in to record at a predetermined location on a tape, but I’ve made a setup in Final Cut that can trigger the record function remotely so I can do a “Record to Tape” without actually needing to be in the room to physically push the record button on the burner.The deck isn’t cheap, but it will do just about anything you need it to do. Check it out.

They might have a product that could help you. We have a Stream-Z box for compressing video to MPeg files in real time. I believe that they might also have boxes that could go the other direction as well. Might be good just to contact them and ask.

Total shot in the dark here but…
What reference are you feeding to the Kona 3 card? I notice that you are running a sequence at 23.98fps and downconverting to 29.97 to the Digibeta deck. In the Kona control panel, in the control tab, what is your genlock reference set to? Are you feeding tri-sync reference to the Kona by chance? Just for a test try to put the Kona 3 reference to “Freerun” and the Digibeta reference to incoming video and see of the problem clears up. I’m wondering of the Digibeta’s servos are attempting to lock to an incorrect signal that they cannot handle and are thus causing all of the channel condition problems.
