I shot some footage on tape, on the HVX200.

My camera and record settings were anamorphic squeeze and 480i 24p

In FCP everything is fine, as soon as I export a quicktime- the image is no longer squeezed- but stretched. Even when I click “letterbox to preserve aspect ratio”

    What is the deal?

So you recorded DVCPro25, 16×9, right?
Qt display your footage as square pixels. You can change the display aspect ratio. In Properties>Video track>Visual setting> Ucheck Preserve aspect ratio>
Then you must increase the with, instead of 720 you must set 800 (not 100% sure, I’m a PALre)>Intro and by now your picture should be Annamorphic.
In PAL-land we set 1024 instead of 720, but the pixels are different.

I believe that 853×480 will do the trick for you.
