Hi Jeremy.
Yes very glorified blue-ray indeed, they are also very expensive and only perform one task for one piece of media..https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/428428-REG/Sony_PDWV1_PDWV1_Mobile_XDCAM_Player.html
or the even more expensive variants-
https://www.broadcaststore.com/store/model_detail.cfm?id=800408Yes common computer interfaces, P2 (PCMCIA) and Expresscard makes alot of sense.

Hi jeremy,
No, I meant a XDCam disc reader, just maybe the sonnet team can put that above or below the current slots, but i suspect Sony would have issues with that ?? was just a passing thought.Cheers

To make the Qio the ultimate solid state reader, maybe in future models it may incorporate a XDcam reader in another slot ?.
Would that be a contender for Sony and Pana etc. lol.Cheers

Hopefully some one will do some pre release tests and advise us if the expected 250mg sec transfer is realised or just marketing.
For those of us who don’t reside in the US, we hope B&H stock and ship this reader.cheers

If it performs as stated it will be nirvana for many solid state users across the board.

Just goes to show once again, “Patience” is a virtue.
It makes sense to roll out the product, which could take some weeks/months and have the software/firware available instantly over the web. Well done Pana.

Hi Martin,
I shot with a V-Mount Nnovia HDD (firewire connected) for a couple of months before 8gig P2 cards were available to me, I’ve learned to be patient with Panasonic firmware update delivery, may I suggest some patience and just do a “work around” to keep your clients happy.
we all know in this industry if we live on the cutting edge of technology , we will get “cut” at some point. try an Apple OS update on day of release and you know just what I mean.cheers
