the woofers that I got are stripped from an old cabinet, so thats all good. What I don’t understand is:

Using a store bought 4×12″ cab as am example, does this include woofers and tweeters? If so, how come the tweeter is the same size as the woofer? I’m actually having problems finding tweeters made for guitar speakers.

I also looked up the frequency ranges for amps, and I found that they usually don’t go higher than 5khz anyway (the woofers I have can go a little past 6khz) so could I still do it with two woofers, taking into account the fact that they come from an old cabinet, and then have an appropriate frequency range?

in that case, I think that we’ll buy some amp heads. We don’t need anything new or fancy, just something to get the job done. Do you know of any market or something that sells used gear online? I’ve been searching for one for a long time, but haven’t found anything decent.

thanks, but I have already checked that site. Although it helped me a little, it still didnt answer my main questions: can this work with an ordinary amp (asuming that it is directly connected through the headphone jack) and what should I look for when I buy speakers (I want to get one subwoofer and one tweeter. Do these need to have corresponding watts, hz, etc with each other and the original amp)? I have only a very basic knowledge of electronics, and almost no understanding of audio.

ok, in that case it is a good idea to look ahead. In that case the rode, and the mixer are good choices. I’m afraid that i cant help much with the camera’s; at that level its a little beyond what i work with, however, i have had some problems with sony. Thats more of a few personal experiances, so i doubt that it applies to everyone, however lots of sony equipment has prblems because they make a lot of their products only compatible with other sony products. Just something to look into.

I’d also say that with those top of the line camera’s, and very good mixer, you might want to take a step up with the shotgun (look at azden or something, they are always decent). Be sure to read reviews! some of these mics can have very annoying motor noise, so make sure that nobody has had these problems with them.

yeah, i knew that i would encounter these kinds of problems, but i’m used to it, most of my equipment is stuff that arent ment to be put together, but i’ve messed around with and made work. The recorder was something that i already had to record my guitar with, so i thought that maybe it could double up with the mic i was getting.

I want to use the microphone mainly for video’s, especially outdoors.

This pre-amp (i dont know anything about audio gadgets) what is it, and can i buy one separately? or does it have to come with the recorder? I’m pretty sure that the line 6 uses the guitar amp for that. I have been trying to build myself a guitar amp, just for fun, and i know that the way i’m trying to do it i have to build a pre-amp (in this case a stompbox) and then the actual amp. Is this the same with a microphone?

ok, i tried the stretch to window thing… I got different results depending on the template i used and other settings i used. I understand that i can search this, but i am under a ton a pressure and it would be nice if someone could walk me through all the settings I need.

i would also like to know why the preview window shows something different than what the render comes out to be. Dont get me wrong, i love vegas, but there is something screwed up with how they did their render function.

  • ok, i looked at your suggestions, and i did some research by myself. Your suggestions were way too expensive for me, Do you know of anything that is, say, under 50 bucks (i’m only 15, so i dont need anything great, am interested in cinematography, so should be decent…)

  • oh, and my editing software can take be adapted to work with multiple sound rates, so the 48 khz wont be a constraint.
