If I recall correctly, he mentioned that he built the tunnel, cables and reflective mud water in 3D Studio Max.

Go to Videocopilot.com and look at the Riot Gear package. Some
great splats and drips as well as alot of other good stuff.

Not this guy again…Does he live just to vent his hostility
here on the COW? Man, I tire of his adolescent ranting. Cant someone just block his ability to access this site and prevent
him from insulting and annoying the community?

“I like to yell at people, and your post is exactly the type of person I can yell at….My guess is that you should hire a 24 year old to teach you how to use Final Cut Pro, as you will probably say “FCP sucks, it’s not like an AVID”.

or… after reading the two different responses he also might say… “Bob Zelin sucks….he’s not like Walter Biscardi” 😉

    Shane & Russel:
So are you guys saying the the Barefeats statistics that the OP is referring to are not correct?

“But hold the phone. Did you look closely at the Motion and iMaginator graphs? The stock Radeon HD 2600 XT beat the GeForce 8800 GT. We’re puzzled by this when you consider it has twice the VRAM and a faster core. Could the Radeon’s architecture be more optimized for Core Image effects?”

I choose not to blindly plunge into a $8,000 purchase. Minimal research at the Apple Discussions Mac Pro site will reveal a crowd of folks dealing with major display issues and machine lockups involving the newest Mac Pros. I would call that performance far from perfect and a great reason not to
“just buy it when you need it” unless your looking for lots a grief.

Daniel: I have been lusting after a Mac Pro for use with AE and FCP. I have done alot of research at sites including
Creative Cow forums, Final Cut Pro – L, Ken Stone, LAFCPUG, Apple, MacFixit, Bare Feats, Ars Technica, Xlr8yourmac.
My findings lead me to believe that I should wait before making my purchase. There are alot of issues I want to be
cleared up before spending lots of bucks. As they say in Latin, “Let The Buyer Beware”.
Good luck with your purchase whatever it may be.

“Tom, BAREFEATS.com is a great place to check on system configs.”

Yes, I go there often. Did you see the “Shootout” between the 2 new graphics cards (2600 & 8800) when being utilized by
Motion 3. They say they are stumped how the less beefy card
(the 2600) beats out the 8800 in the rendering race. That sure has me confused as well.

“so why would you treat the Mac system any differently than your Avids?”

Andy, you actually called this quite well even without knowing me. I DID the same detailed research before the other purchases in the facility. I was prepared to deal with the issues that might arise and have to explain things to the GM.
Just my way of covering my butt.
If what I have come across is the exception not the rule…Im ecstatic. I cant tell you how excited I am to get the Mac Pro!
