Very Cool. I look forward to hearing how things go for you.

I purchased the Caldigit HD Pro2 16TB raid which uses a PCIE card. It will be interesting to see what kind of performance I get from the system.

No Red Rocket for me. but I did get the fastest CPUs available on the Z820 which will help with Red and Epic playback. My old Mac Pro plays back Red at half resolution (2K) just fine.So I expect the same from the Z820 at the very least.

Please keep me posted on your experiences.

Im not sure this will work. But Amazon has a great return policy on most items. If you do some research and find a Raid array that you like, it might be a good idea and order it through them (but not a third party vender which they also do at the site). Then if its the answer to your problems, you are golden. If not, you can return it. Though my best guess would be the right system should make a dramatic difference in CS6s performance.

Well, thank you for those very kind words.

Again, not knowing what format you are playing back makes it hard for me to help. But in my experience a high speed raid for PrP can be crucial since its design and function is very different from FCP where all media is transcoded to a codec (Prores) that FCP is optimized for.

Might be helpful to state the format you are having problems with and the raid array you playback your media from. For the Mercury Playback Engine that is as important as CPU speed, Ram size and GPU card.

I dont know. I will be doing all my editing on the PC since I hear PrP performs better and faster on it (given the right components). That way I wont have to do Adobe and other software updates on both or buy plugins for both.

Im just entering the PC learning curve so thats all I have bumped into so far. Being very judicious when on the internet never opening unknown emails seem added behaviors.

Im keeping my Mac Pro for internet and email use to avoid getting viruses or malware.

I am making the switch from Mac to PC. Windows seems to require a little more attention (firewalls,secuity systems, degragmentation and such) then OSX does. So I would tend to agree with Lewis’ evaluation of your situation
