Okay, so I’ve discovered the issue in question.

In ‘Properties’, one of our assistant editors had set the pixel format to 32 bit floating point (full range).

The issue with Boris went away when it was reset to 8-bit.

I guess I owe you an apology as well. Sorry for the misunderstanding. My company’s been excruciatingly busy lately and I’ve literally only been sleeping around two hours a night for the last I don’t know how long. So my apologies.

I’ve reinstalled Both Vegas and Boris.

Here’s what now happens:

1) I bring .mts files into the sony timeline. All is well.
2) I then bring Boris into the picture and the UI opens in Vegas.
3) Boris now plays the .mts files (maybe the codecs messed it up earlier, I don’t know. But this is the first time that Boris has accepted the files.)
4)NEW PROBLEM: The colors are seriously messed up and the contrast is out of whack when Boris is applied. Much of the picture detail is lost.

Ex: Bright areas that are white in the video go brilliant blues, yellows, reds.

Contrast seems to lower to the point where detail is seriously being affected.

Could this be a problem with the way the camera is recording the .mts files? Or a problem with the way they are being saved?

Could this be an issue with my computer?

I’ve never run into an issue like this. I’ve used Boris 4 in Vegas 8 and loved it.

Okay, you don’t seem to get it. The .mts files are in the Vegas timeline. The message still appears when Boris is applied to it.

BTW: You should seek to understand the question before responding. If you need more information then simply ask.

I mean, think about it: why would anyone use Boris as a plugin then try to separately import .mts files when it only accepts AVI?

I think I did point out to you that the fact that Boris accepts only AVI was not only pointed out before in this thread but was, even then, an obvious statement that anyone who uses Boris already understood.

If you don’t know the answer then fine. No problem. Don’t respond. That’s perfectly acceptable. But if you do respond at least read the common thread in front of you to understand what has already been posted, (eg: Boris accepts AVI) and try to understand the question. Otherwise you responding is a pointless exercise for both of us.

Yes, it is understood that Boris Red 5 plays only AVI. That has already been established.

It has also been established that Boris Red 5 is being used as a plugin to Sony Vegas 10.

The issue, once again, is that AS A PLUGIN TO SONY VEGAS 10, BORIS RED 5 DOES NOT ACCEPT .MTS FILES. Vegas plays them wonderfully, but Boris doesn’t. It reads: “This file could not be imported because it is not a recognized type or is not readable.”

The codecs have been uninstalled. Vegas is functioning extremely well (as it always does). Again, Boris Red 5 is still not playing .mts files.

It didn’t play .mts files before I tried the codecs and is still not playing them. That’s the issue.

Any advice along those lines.

I have removed the codecs so they’re no longer an issue. However, .mts files still don’t play in Boris 5 when I use it as a plugin for Vegas. They work on your system? If that’s the case then I have an issue with my system somewhere. Any ideas?

It is a 64 bit version that I have. AVI’s are not an issue, nor are quicktime files.
