Firewire does not have enough bandwidth to uncompressed HD.
Losless compression through fw800 might be nice…
Or visually losless 12bit 4:4:4 linear gamma RAW… -

This is great!
I’m a bit newbie here so how do we ask these questions?
By replying to this thread?
E-mailing to Scott? -

Whenever one does copying, I think that there is a need for backup copy.
So people should consider that there is need to make “working” copy from p2 for viewing and editing
_and_ “backup” copy which is copied again if working copy’s data gets somehow corrupted. At least I’m not going to erase p2 card before I havve both working and backup copies.

So we are waiting Panny to give us a handy software to insert all this metadata to mxf?
Or is there any good 3rd party programs for this already? -
Ok, it seems that those “HD” pictures in Reel Stream’s site are up-rezzed and looking them with 200% magnification shows also quite a bit color shifting…

But there is a difference if paintbrush costs $200k or $5k.
Another clumsy allegory might be how building ice halls around Finland has had an effect of Finnish pro hockey players in NHL. Now how an earth buildings can increase talent?
(I’m just watching national finals on tv 🙂There is a quite a big revolution going on in content making.
Dv technology has made possible to make tv programs without huge capital.
Internet has made possible to distribute programs without enormous capital in tv stations and networks.
Now HD is making same to cinema. So talent is getting more important than ever!
(And there is also new talent needed in making programs; you need a computer wizard in every step…) -
From Reel Streams site:
“Frame size: 1280×720 (16:9 with anamorphic adapter), 1124×720**(NTSC pixels, full optical frame)”Does this mean that one ccd in dvx100 has physical pixel count of 1124×720 and this has AR of 4:3?
Does the camera use pixel shift in both axes (=green pixels are not aligned with other in x- nor y-axis)?If so you could easily pull out 1080p from this…

If hdd’s motor (or any other part) breaks you can’t read the disk.
If any part of optical drive breaks, you can change the drive and still read the disk.Mass market defines the price. Hdd’s are used everywhere, dvcproHD tapes only in few cameras.

Does dvx100 really have 720 lines chips?
