Eh, I’ve tried lots of stuff now. None of it works, there’s always some problem (bad audio, no audio, etc), but the file size goes up from 400MB to 4GB, so I don’t think I’ll do this with a 2GB file.

The source video wasn’t directly from the DV tape. The 10 min video was what I had already edited in Premiere 6.5. It’s a finished clip that basically just needs deinterlacing to be completely done. As such I’m 100% certain that the source video isn’t glitchy since I’ve worked on the footage for hours (and exported it successfully without glitches). 🙂
A history of what I’ve done:
I edited the raw DV footage in Premiere 6.5 and as a result obtained a 10 minute uncompressed .avi clip. This clip won’t be edited anymore since I’m satisfied with the results, but it’s interlaced, so I imported it into After Effects similarly to how Kramer imported his 5 seconds clip to deinterlace it. Then I ran into problems while trying to export the deinterlaced clip.
So what’s this AAF format and might my problem be solved by exporting the movie from Premiere as an AAF file instead of .avi?
I just realized something that could be the cause of this audio/video glitch. When creating a new composition in After Effects I chose the preset as NTSC, 640 x 480, simply because this was the resolution of my movie. Since the video was imported successfully I didn’t think more of it. However, the footage actually came from a PAL camera. But the footage isn’t even in raw form, so I’m wondering whether that should even matter. In other words, I’m a bit confused as to which preset I should choose, seeing as how none of the PAL settings have 640×480 as a resolution option.
Hopefully this has added more insight into what could be the matter.
