I’m not exactly sure what your process is here, or what exactly you are trying to do…
But from what I am understanding, an easy way would be to make a clipping mask. Create a document the full size you need. Create a 3×3 box (you could easily make a new document 3×3 and fill white and drag to your other document). This will be Layer 1. Open an image that will be going into a box, drag it to your document. This will be Layer 2. Make sure Layer 2 is above Layer 1. Right-click Layer 2 and select Clipping Mask. This will use the box as a matte and you can position/scale/do whatever you need to Layer 2 to get it to fit into your box. If you need to move the box around, you can move Layer 1 and reposition Layer 2 within the box. Do this for each additional layer.

Areca generally has good read/write performance in RAID-6, I think you’ll be happy with it. And it’s easy to set up.

Usually if you have an issue the audio will drift out of sync from the video. You don’t have that?
It could be just a little delay to your recording device. Looks like you are a ways away. Where is the audio being played from? You may just have to adjust visually to get the correct sync. You could get a direct line from the audio playback to your camera, or move the playback closer to the camera.

Anand – sounds like you want to make sure that you won’t have a similar problem even with RAID-1. It sounds like you have 3 x 2TB & 2 x 6TB & a system drive??? I would check to make sure you have good power. You need a pretty good power supply to run all that. I’ve seen issues where a PC was so close to the edge of the power output of the PSU, that it worked fine for a short time, then at some point it would lose a drive and cause havoc on the RAID that was internal. This could be the case here. I’m just throwing that out there as something to check on.

And I sense a little confusion. You should still be able to plug in 6g Sata III drives into the 8 bay chassis, just make sure it has a 6g backplane in the enclosure to get the speed out of the drives. Then that connects via miniSAS cable to the SAS card in the computer. David Weiss at Promax, among others here on the Cow, have great options for this.

Try this. In PPro, drag an imported clip from a bin to the lower right hand corner of the bin and drop it on the ‘new item’ icon. This will make a new sequence from the clip that matches the clip. Then when you export, select ‘match sequence settings’ checkbox – that should be all you need to do. Now render. Does it still show black at all? It shouldn’t. My guess is that there is a difference in pixel aspect or something between your sequence and render settings.

When you send your project to Media Encoder to render, you can go into the video settings and select field order – Lower, Upper, or Progressive. You will want Progressive. Also, if only two clips are giving you issues in PPro, in your sequence you can right click the clip and select Field Options and select to deinterlace. I’ve had issues before with scaling interlaced footage and just had to deinterlace it in the sequence timeline.

Do you have anything conforming when you try to play and it does that? Look for a progress bar on the lower right corner of your sequence timeline. Also, I would go ahead and clean your media cache database if you haven’t done that recently.

I believe you only need the free Acrobat Reader, but I could be wrong.
