That’s not what adjustment layers are for. You draw masks on adjustment layers to limit the area within which an effect is applied.

If you want to mask out an area, draw the mask on the footage layer itself. If you want to mask out an area on a composite of several layers, precompose them and draw the mask on the precomposition layer.

Richard’s suggestion works if you are trying to have each letter be one color, but my reading of Jason’s request is that he wants each letter to me made up of multiple colors.

Curtis’s suggestion won’t work in this case. Dynamic Link from Premiere Pro to After Effects requires After Effects to understand the footage, too.

We added Sony RAW import in After Effects CC 2014 (13.0).

The current-time indicator always only moves in one-frame intervals. You’re probably only just noticing this now because you are zoomed very far in in time. The grey bars are showing the extent of motion blur, indicating shutter phase and shutter angle by the offest and width of the grey bars.
