September 12, 2014 at 10:11 pm in reply to: after effects composition sizing : how does it all work?

    > I have learned from watching several tutorials that 1920 X 1080 is the ideal dimensions for composition size in after effects.

That doesn’t by itself make sense.

The right size for your composition depends on how you will be using the movie that you’re creating—i.e., what devices and/or software will be used to play the video.

If, for example, you are creating a movie to be played full-frame on a high-definition television, then 1920×1080 makes sense.

September 11, 2014 at 9:32 pm in reply to: Timeline not scrolling to older effects

    3,000? That’s a lot.

There is currently a bug in After Effects that causes various drawing problems for the user interface with you have a couple thousand or more items that need to be displayed in the Timeline panel.

Until we fix this bug, I recommend separating your work into some smaller pieces such that you’re not running into this limit.

You’ve just hidden the Switches column in that Timeline panel.

I recommend posting Premiere Pro questions in the Premiere Pro forum, not this barely-trafficked general forum.

    from After Effects Help (https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/modifying-using-views.html#zoom_an_image_for_preview):
“To pan around in the Composition, Layer, or Footage panel while zoomed in, drag with the Hand tool, which you can activate by holding down the spacebar, the H key, or the middle mouse button. Hold Shift, too, to pan faster.”

September 9, 2014 at 3:26 pm in reply to: MXF issues persist in CC?

I am not aware of any remaining issues with these files in the current versions of After Effects, but the only way that you’ll be able to satisfy yourself for certain is to try the free 30-day trial of the current versions of After Effects and Premiere Pro.
