Cinema 4D Lite doesn’t come with After Effects CS6 (11.0).

Cinema 4D Lite comes with After Effects CC (12.0) and later.

The Caps Lock key prevents rendering, so that may do the trick to avoid the error long enough for you to disable the expression.

You don’t say which version you’re using. The crash mentioned on the thread that you linked to is fixed in After Effects CC (12.0).

August 20, 2013 at 12:04 am in reply to: Graphics cards for AE?

The same answer that I gave you on the other forum where you asked:

Be careful about getting advice about graphics cards for After Effects CS5. Most people are going to give you information that’s valid for CS6 and later (like about the ray-traced 3D renderer), which will be useless to you, since everything to do with the GPU was changed in After Effects CS6.

For After Effects CS5, what matters is OpenGL, and nearly any modern card will provide more than enough muscle to help you there.

You should spend your money on more RAM.

    > I also have a retail upgrade package to 7.0 Professional but the upgrade keeps failing.

Are you aware that After Effects 7.0 is a very old version—about 8 years old? If you’re trying to upgrade from After Effects CS5 (10.0) to After Effects 7.0, you’re going the wrong direction; that’s why the upgrade is failing.

You have drawn a parametric shape, not a path-based shape.

Redraw your rectangle with the Rectangle tool, but hold down the Option/Alt key when you draw it this time. That will create a path-based shape.

You must have switched to the new ray-traced 3D renderer:
