You’ve helped Adobe so much by being such a great resources for support with AE, they should give you the upgrade!

hit the ‘return’ key when you have the nested clip on the timeline.

Hi Kevin,
I’m a little curious on the performace since CS3 too. But they do
The demo I saw at NAB I believe also included a couple of ‘RAM preview’ options that would always be updating allow for ‘almost’ instant RAM previews. Plus a couple of other tricks, sweet app. There is a trick on getting AE to render (without Necleo), but still being able to work with it…can’t remember if I saw it on the cow or not. Never tried it, I need more cores. 😛

Hi,
Problem is you need the NEW ProRes codecs to view, render, convert, etc the QuickTime files.
Without FCS2, you don’t have access to the codecs needed. You can either get them to send you a different file (non ProRes) or buy FCS2. There ‘might’ be a way to just load the codecs into the QuickTime library, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Apple made sure you can’t use it with purchasing FCS2.

FWIW,
If AE will be the bulk of your business, you’ll really want to look at GridIron Software Nucleo Pro.
https://www.gridironsoftware.com/NucleoPro/
It can really increase performance, but requires 2 or 4 gigs of RAM per core? Something to keep in mind.Cheers,

Hi,
Unfortunately, the only thing that is going to increase how fast you can preview and render from AE is new processors. RAM will give you more time in RAM preview and a speed increase when going between apps, but not rendering or previewing. Graphics Card can add a little if you use Open GL, but there are a LOT of reasons NOT to.
Please keep in mind, Particle systems are one of the MOST processor intensive of any effects! For each frame, AE could need to do a million calculations. That’s why it takes so long to preview and render. Particular from Trapcode works very fast for a particle app, if you want more speed in these effects.
HDs don’t really matter in AE, SCSI drives would be a slight boast, but a new or different HD won’t effect the speed of AE.
Good Luck,

Hi Peter!
Sorry, forgot to mention that I did try saving to another HD, same error.
Per your suggestion, I repaired permissions, but it’s still giving me the error.
I created a new project, threw some media into it, then save it with collecting media and it worked fine. So it’s as I feared, there’s something in that specific project that it can’t access or is missing.
I might try building the project again with just the media i need to see if it fixes the problem
.Thank for the input

lol, Kevin-through me a bone please.
You would have gotten a much better answer with the FIRST post had you been this clear. You wouldn’t have needed to read as I rambled on in a post that didn’t fit with your question. 😛
[kevin c.] “My editor however edits on FCP studio 1
I want to take his project files and render and output them.”No, you can’t open FCP projects with Express. I believe the only solution for bringing in video from FCP to FCE would be to export DV files out of FCP for you on FCE. HD? Do you mean HDV? It makes a difference web and DVD? FCE only does HDV.
FCE does NOT come with Compressor or DVDSP, which you’d need to create MPEG’s and author DVDs. FLip for Mac is a plug-in that lets to watch and compress to wmv, but it isn’t a stand alone app for compressing-so you’d still need a compression software. Either Compressor or Sorenson Squeeze. (with FLip for Mac)
