Thank you Tom and Jeremy, I had a feeling I was trying to fix something that was not broken, but I wanted to be sure.

I am still curious about my 2 pops not lining up. The music editor is sure he is all good on his side. All the reels he delivered are consistently off at the tail 2 pop. Which of course worries me. What is strange is that the tail 2 pop is ending early not late. Any ideas?

Here is a snap shot since I may not be saying this in a clear way. I have a feeling all is well when concerning the settings since it comes up with no rendering and the exports look good, I just wanted to make double sure.

That file does not line up either. I did try that. I am having the sound designer and music editor check their sessions to my LFOA list.

What I mean to say is that in the FCP timeline settings there is no 1080p option. My timeline is set for 24 frame per sec and I then choose the only 1080 option I see, which is 1080i. I am not technically saying any one thing is happening… I am just stating what settings I am choosing. I can take a snap shot if that helps.

    Thank you for your response.

I did check the properties and the only difference is that one is a wave file and the other is a aif. They are both 48, 16bit, mono audio files. I agree that the change is not a big deal. The sound deisgner and I are both just very curious on why things like this happen. In FCP with your timeline settings you have only the choice of bit rate, sample rate, and if it is stereo or mono. So it is indeed very strange on why the render line would switch from one file type to the other when copied into a new timeline with the same audio settings. (maybe there is a deaper timeline setting I am unaware of) Also, when you make OMF’s you only have the choice of bit rate, sample rate, and if it is stereo or mono. I am not an audio person, but I am thinking that maybe there is a slight difference in wave files and aif files themselves (which makes sense) to where FCP has to change one or the other to match in the timeline. (within FCP 5) Still confused though.

I realized that their problem was that the timeline used to be anamorphic and therefore the titles were still anamophic… which was making the titles look horrible… which made me think I was doing something wrong. All is well now that the titles are fixed. Thank you very much for your response.

I am having the same problem and I do not have the option of exporting each one as a QT since that would take way to long with the amount of footage we have as well as it creating a problem with the online process. Any other suggestions? Is this a bug? Any word of this getting fixed ASAP??

December 15, 2005 at 2:13 am in reply to: Adjusting the sync within a multi clip

I am having difficulty with a sync issue and multiclips. I had a clip out of sync so I slipped the audio to corrrect it, I then locked the clip and I then put the newly slipped clip into a bin so that we could use the new clip that is now in sync to edit with. I then decided to make this a multiclip. But now when I edit using multiclip there is always a probelm with this clip and any others that I have had to sync. The problem is that it is again out of sync and usually at a different amount or direction. If I use them out of multiclip it is fine. Is this just a bug? It is very annoying. I have to slip most of them again. This will get very difficult once we realy dive into this feature film edit.

Some clips from the B camera had no audio and I used the Camera A audio and married them together with the same solution as above… and these also have issues when used as a multi clip. Is there a way to fix this. Or is this way too confusing to understand?

I will try and sum it up:

When using clips with sync issues that were put back into sync, when we then use them as a multiclip there is a new sync issue where it is back out of sync and not always out of sync the same way as the original master.
