I know this thread is old, but I just wanted to jump to the (senselessly-wasted) defense of the Matrox RT2000. I custom-built a system around the RT2000 in 2001 based on Matrox’s approved configurations/components, and had rock-solid performance from it – from the original P3/450 to a different (approved) mobo with dual P3/733’s – it was solid with Premiere 6.0 and After Effects 5.0 & 5.5. I still have it if anyone wants to buy it! (half-kidding) 😉

[Emanuel Ach] ” so the -12 on final cut volume meter is the same as -12 DBFs?”

Exactly. They can’t be relied upon for critical evaluation, but I’ve found that the peak readings track well with my professional hardware meters.

If the station is the type of station that will accept DVD-Video deliverables, then I’d hesitate to think they would have all their ducks in a row with file-based delivery. If all else fails, send it on a DV tape. That will all but eliminate the chance of the spot not airing as it appears and sounds (minus their extreme use of compression) on your video and audio monitors.

    Nice article/exchange about DV, super-black, super-white, etc.

Unfortunately, Adam indicates he’s using Sony HDC-1400 camera chains (in-studio, or remote/OB) which can only output 1080i60 or 720p60, and if they have box lenses on them, they can’t accept any sort of 35mm adapters. His options are limited to using lighting, focal length, and post-production processing to achieve a more “filmic” look.

Thanks for that – I thought I’d verified it. I stand corrected.

    Canon XF-305 IS 4:2:2.

That doesn’t change my answer to the original question. However, for on-camera recording, I would have to do some tests between them to see which one would gives cleaner keys. The Canon ON PAPER should, but I’d want to compare the two.

Oh I’m not fussing. 🙂 Welcome to the Cow!

Have you thought of using an SDI-to-Y’Pb’Pr converter and using the projectors’ component inputs? That’s probably be the least-delayed conversion.

Are you using the converters on the projector end or the switcher end? They should be on the projector end, run coax to the projector, then short jumper DVI cable from the converter to the projector.

Also, why not use an AJA HDP2 and eliminate the HDMI-DVI adapter? The fewer converters/adapters the better.
