I found a workaround. After looking in the Blackmagic Resolve forum, I found this.

    https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=20265&p=125655&hilit=hdrx#p125655

I went into “Project Settings…” and turned off “Use GPU for RED Debayer”. You’ll need to restart Resolve. I then ended up having to delete the clip from my resolve timeline and adding it back. Now Resolve picks up the A and X frames when using the Layer node structure.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, I’m having the exact same problem right now in Resolve 10.1.4 Lite. Can’t figure out a way around it. Like you, I checked out the clip in RedCine-X Pro and it looks fine. I can see the A and X frames and the difference in exposure. But Resolve doesn’t seem to be recognizing them in the node structure. On my timeline, I see that Resolve lists them as “RED HDRx” so it’s recognizing them as such there, but not in the nodes / output.

Would appreciate any help or workaround.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up. Seems like a pretty big step backwards for Apple/FCP. I’m in the process of evaluation.

I purchased a Drobo about six months ago and it’s been nothing but trouble. Very slow and completely unreliable. I use a Mac 10.4.11 with a FireWire 800 connection. I bought the Drobo housing and added 4x1TB sata drives. Turns out the initial power supply for the drive wasn’t strong enough for the system. Even after Drobo replaced it, I still can’t reliably copy large files to it. It’s now nothing but a boat anchor on my desk. I highly recommend purchasing something other than Drobo.

Hi Craig. Would it be possible to email me your Episode preset for DG Fast Channel? I need to get some spots to them and we just got our account setup. Or are they posted on the web somewhere?

    Thanks much,

    Folks,

Just a follow-up to my earlier post. My problem with pops and clicks was the breakout box. I switched to using the breakout cable that connects directly to the card and the problem went away. I had experienced random pops and clicks in the audio tracks of some footage along with flashes and glitches in the video. I took those clips offline in FCP, connected the breakout cable, recaptured, and the footage came in cleanly.

    Gary,

Yes, I’ve researched the threads. I had this issue in January of this year but thought I had it resolved due to cabling issues. I have the AJA 4.0 drivers installed. Quicktime version is 7.3. I spoke with someone at the NAB booth in April and they told me about the “Freerun” control setting to get rid of the problem. It’s still a problem.

    What else am I missing.

The pops/clicks are still an issue on Dual 2Ghz G5, OSX 10.4.10 and FCP 6.0.1. Has anyone figured out the problem. It’s driving me nuts. And customers have complained about it. It’s forcing me to take a look at Decklink.

Thanks, Steve. Frank Capria’s article is confirmation of that. The workaround he suggests for the time being is transcoding clips to the Animation codec with Final Cut

So NO ONE has run into this problem?! Can anyone at Apple, Adobe or otherwise confirm that ProRes can make the round trip FCP2->AE7->FCP2 without loss? Or is it known to be lossy?

    Thanks for any help.
