That is not how all – or even the majority – of large corporations communicate.
And…clear, official and direct? No. Clear, official and direct is a titled person providing a quote for attribution. And this happens all the time. Anything else is spin. And it’s worth a lot more to me that a case of beer.

2013? I don’t know. If I’m still in the market for something and they have a solution that suits I would consider it. But I don’t think that is going to happen. I think the pro apps and workstation departments at Apple consist of one (part time) person trying to figure out how best to respond to criticism while quietly phasing both of those troublesome businesses out with the least PR fallout.
And, by the way – 2013? Do they really expect any thinking person to take that seriously?

“Apple says” is even more meaningless than “Mickey Mouse says” Unless there is a name and title attached to it it is just spin. Believe it if you like. Remember how “awesome” FCP X was supposed to be for all us guys. And that was a direct quote from the CEO which turned out to be – shall we say – inaccurate?

I have to say that this forum is one of the most useful in which I have ever participated. Someone always appears to be watching and I seem to find things out here far sooner than I would on my own. Despite (or because of) all the partisan grousing – and I most certainly do not except myself from that – this forum really seems to serve the interests of most the folks who are participate in it.

Two days after the opening of WWDC. Interesting. While I am in no way frightened by Windows, Linux, or any other OS it was not lost on me that in my dealings with Apple over the past 13 years their computers have been generally easier to update and maintain. So I’ll give them until next week. I’m sure they are waiting in breathless anticipation as to what my ultimate decision might be.

I live in a place where there are a truly frightening number of Apple retail stores and I haven’t seen a MacPro on display in any of them in at least six months.
