Since my original post, I’ve discovered that I can open the imported 29.97 title and make an exactly copy with whatever framerate I desire with the press of one button at the top of the title designer panel. (It’s the button with the “T” inside the film frame.) That’s resolved my issue although copy-and-paste might be even easier in some circumstances. Thanks for the idea, Mike.

I’m experiencing the EXACT same issue. I’m trying to speed up a clip to 104%. I get audio just fine if I DON’T check “maintain audio pitch”. Once I do, no audio. I assumed I must be doing something wrong but given that you’ve got the same issue it must be a bug. Of course, knowing this is of no help to solving the problem… Frustrating.

That wasn’t a particularly helpful response, Aaron.

Thanks for the response, Noah. I’ve been assuming that ProRes is a Mac-only codec unavailable to Windows users with CS4. Am I incorrect on this?

Thanks, Craig. Your arguments make a lot of sense.

I appreciate your thoughts, Craig. Two questions:

    1. Are you saying that you don’t need to use an intermediate codec when editing EX1 files on an NLE? I’ve just been assuming that you do since it is a GOP codec.

    2. I’ve been assuming I could address the speed issues of editing AVCHD by using an intermediate codec. Am I understanding that the issue with this approach is the large file size one gets as a result?

    Thanks again.

    Craig,

Any thoughts on how the EX1 compares to the HMC150 the OP mentioned?

    Thanks.
