  • can’t hear audio after speed duration change/ CS5

Posted by Mark Elf on May 8, 2011 at 6:08 pm

My audio plays fine before I make a speed duration change but as soon as I make that change I can’t get any sound when I go to play it back. I know it’s something dumb I must be doing but I sure can’t figure it out ! Any help would sure be appreciated !!

All other edits like this that I’ve done before I’ve had no problem with and now all of a sudden this issue.

    Thanks

    Mark

    Mark,

Try rendering the clips on your timeline and see if that helps.

    Best regards,

Hi Jay: thanks for the suggestion. The crazy thing is that I figured out that when I can slow down the video up to 45% with the hold original pitch box checked it will work. I need to have the “hold to original pitch” box checked because I am editing music education videos.

If I slow it down to 44% or less the audio won’t play ! I can slow it down 44% or less without the “hold to original pitch” box checked and the audio will work but of course the pitch is wrong ! That’s no good for me.

So that check box is the problem. I wonder if it’s a bug. I was using premier elements and could slow down the video and audio as much as I wanted and never had a problem.

I am still puzzled by this.

    Thanks very much for responding

    Mark,

That’s very strange. About the only time I have to render anything on the timeline in PP is when I have multiple audio tracks, audio effects or bring in audio tracks at 32bpc.

Thanks for the head’s up about the checkbox!

I’m experiencing the EXACT same issue. I’m trying to speed up a clip to 104%. I get audio just fine if I DON’T check “maintain audio pitch”. Once I do, no audio. I assumed I must be doing something wrong but given that you’ve got the same issue it must be a bug. Of course, knowing this is of no help to solving the problem… Frustrating.

Now the crazy thing is I’ve slowed down a different video to 30% checked the “maintain original pitch” box and there was no problem. It must be something in the video or all the presets you choose as you start a new project.

I’m not a pro editor and don’t know CS5 very well at all, the truth be told, so I really can’t say what’s going on.
