Thank you yet again for all your helpful advice, all these things I have done and still it dies, I think it’s a virus installed on my machine by Adobe or Avid…….

    Thanks,

I can’t even get it running long enough to delete render files from within the application. I have removed the application and all files, reinstalled (no joy) I’m pretty sure I’ve deleted any render files. I’ve validated and even removed all fonts (no joy) and removed all motion templates, which of course fcp x only goes and pulls everything back in again.

    not working.

Every other application works well, all adobe, Avid, motion and fcp 7 you name it, it’s only FCP X.

But again thanks for all your help.

Hi, Yes tried that and then FCP X of course needs the graphics card so won’t start in safe boot mode….

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I just think My Mac pro has it in for FCP x, laptop runs it fine. I think it is a bit old fashioned and won’t try anything new….

Tried looking at the console, nothing…..

Absolutely it’s this user account, but would be a real pain to 1st birthday this system.

I’ve disk 1st aided and validated the fonts (including pulling them all out) still crashing, just trying to work out what the hell it is, FCP X is the only application not working, everything else including FCP 7 is working absolutely fine.

    Hi

I’m on my second box now and am having the same problem, also an interesting one where I get get a “sample and hold” effect.

Have tried to return the firmware to 1.0 but the box refuses, how do I force it to reload firmware?

    Thanks for your responses.

    Luke,

I am running a broadcast monitor (ikegami tm14-17r) and it is multistandard i believe, however I am using an sdi to component converter which I will test today when i get access to more sdi feeds! however due to the other problems I feel this might not be the problem but you never know…..

I do not have more than 64 components in my quicktime library and it is definately the blackmagic codec component that flips FCP out.

My os is 10.4.8 and am indeed running quicktime 7.1.3.

As for RAM everything else has been fine and dandy up to this point, I’ll investigate moving the card tonight.
