Hi, lost track of this thread, but even with the new version of SVP, I cant get the clips to load properly, the first one is always random no matter if i choose first or last clip. Anyone also come across this?

Square Pixel. For DV (or any material) should I just leave the default (720×480; ratio ~0.9091) or would it be best to use square pixel (640×480; ratio 1.0). When i switch to square pixel on a test it really boosts the CPU usage and doubles the render time. What does square pixel do to the output? make is more true?

I tried again last night. Compared several methods, but came back to Sony AVC. The original one i did was 2.5mb/s. This time i used the default template, and 6mb/s bitrate, and set project to best. i checked something like use original frame rate. Still not perfect, but a nice mix of file size and quality. One odd thing was the original (DV-AVI) was slightly letterboxed and wider, while the render was no letterbox and a bit thinner. the original video was 640×480, DV captured at 720×480, and the template was 720×480.

Hi, I am not familiar with the non-pro version. I imagine anything that will get you 1280x720p 30fps should do. The setting is

    Video format: AVC
    Frame size: 1280×720
    Profile: Baseline
    Entropy coding: CAVLC
    Frame rate: 29.970 NTSC (US)
    Field order: none (progressive scan)
    pixel aspect ratio: 1.0
    Bit rate: 6,000,000

    Hope this helps

Hi, i was playing around with adding files via the explorer, and they did not seem to follow any reasoning. it was not the last item checked or the 1st item, and they seemed to be different each time. I am going to play around with it more to see how it acts.

Almost forgot my favorite part – adding a date (time) stamp. Cant believe this is not built in. After frantic search, I found this great plug-in: https://www.elisanet.fi/paavo.jurvelin/. Thanks to the author who I have seen has posted here.

I am no expert, but the ZS3 identifies with a 59.94 frame rate, but it does not really record this way. By disabling it should cut out any ghosting etc.

John, those are great tips, thanks so much.

I will follow up with a new thread on rendering.
