I have something similar that may or may not apply.

I just did the upgrades of Tiger and FCP 5…I could not figure out why everytime I dropped something into a sequence…it had to be rendered.

I got to looking in the motion and audio tabs and for some unknown reason to me…when I dropped clips into the timeline…it randomly added info into some of the tab fields. Once I reset to defaults or zero…dependent on the setting that was changed…tadaaaahhhh…I no longer had to render and video did not look distorted.

Any one experienced this like me and I am thinking that is what may be the problem here.

Yes…I upgraded to Tiger prior to FCP upgrade.

No I had not upgraded my Kona items…I have the Kona I/o LA and the Kona 2 with the Kbox.

I am doing the Mac auto updates right now hoping that will help, as well…I will check my Canvas setting as soon as the updates are done.

    Thanks,

Yeah…that is the wierd thing. It shows in finder and on the desktop.

I am getting ready to go to Tiger…probably today and I understand there is a new version of CCC so I will install that and see what changes if anyting.

I guess what I am going to do for the time being…is continue the down convert with the Kona2 control panel and keep using my PVM 14L2 with the analog, component inputs.

I still see all the image…it is just letterboxed…and it is good enough quality for now. I use it in a mobile editor setup anyway…so it is not like I have 2 or 3 clients looking at it from a producer’s desk from across the room.

I was really hoping for an idea for under a $1000.00, but I guess my niave state is obvious. I really want to save my annual budget for the HD camera of my dreams.

Like the earlier poster…I will wait for a few more gigs to hit me before I jump up to a larger display/monitor of some kind.

I appreciate all the input and can see that I definitely am not the only one facing the decision.

    Thanks Greg,

I have the Sony PVM 14L2…do you know if I can just get a board to insert into one of my open slots on it? There are two open slots on the back of the monitor.

And will this give me as true a HD monitor as is possible for the money?

    Thanks again

April 1, 2005 at 2:42 am in reply to: OK…about my KERNEL PANIC!!!

Craig…thanks so much for you help and guidance in this aggrivating time of need.

Here is what I have…Retrospect would not work for whatever reason…so I Carbon Copied my main boot drive. This worked fine…I rebooted…again with the whole option key down thing, wierd screen with all the drive buttons, etc.

After rebooting with the Carbon Copy…which did work…I did a verify and then a repair on the main hd and taaaadaaaaa…it all came up just fine on two restarts…so I am going to hold my breath.

From what I can tell the whole thing was started when I tried to install an older firewire Canon printer that I had laying around and thought I would put it to some use…Note to self and to all who care…don’t do this unless you have a current driver cd…I almost really screwed myself.

But again…lets hope this has worked for me and again…Craig you are the man…thanks for all your help.

    Sincerely,
