i found the app. but how do I use it? I tried playing around with it to no avail… how do I connect to the server I need to and run the backup? how do i reload the database if I end up having to reinstalling and reloading everything? or bring it to another da vinci elsewhere?

hey, been rocking the system for a few days now, and it’s running great. Wondering where it actually saves my projects/saved sessions? I wanna back those up in case my soft raid kicks the bucket. But I’m not sure which files are actually my saved session. Coming from Color, I don’t see a traditional “project” file to backup…

this might definitely be the culprit! when I tried to install the quadro 4000 it needed me to update mac os first, and than i tried to install the drivers off the cd and it said it was up to date already. will try this tonight, thanks so much.

So got my system setup. When i start da vinci it gives me an error saying its using my gt 120 for core processing. I have gt 120 in slot 2, quadro 4000 in slot 1. Nd gui monitors hooked to the gt. Is this error message normal? I click the “about da vinci” it says 1 gpu. I ran some tests nd it seems like its using the quadro. The gpu usage meter starts filling up as i drop in nodes. Is it using my quadro at all? Gt 120 isnt a cuda card so i cant see how its possible it would be using it for the processing. But the error message has me really worried.

Hey thanks for the heads up about the crossfire. I’ll probably go nvidia route, it’s easy to disable SLI in the motherboard. Will take me a bit to get this together, spent all my money doing the Resolve upgrade. Would take me even longer to save up for full on hardware scopes. I feel like there’s more flexibility, and functionality in building a small shuttle pc too, at least I can use it for other things…

think i got my wording wrong about compression. I just meant that if i graded with the dreamcolor’s p3 emulation, how different would it look if i burned that master file to a blu ray, and basically in doing so it’s getting converted to a 709 color space. I”m wondering if the gamut just gets clipped, so we see less nuances I originally intended, and I’d probably be ok with that, or would it just make it look funky. This is more about curiosity than actually doing it. With your advice I”m probably gonna stick with 709 unless otherwise specified. I might run this p3 emulation and 709 comparison on my own time to just see it for myself…

always been a huge fan of dell monitors, great bang for the buck. if only their actual towers were as good…

Probably gonna build myself a shuttle pc for portability. I can use it on my resolve and DIT cart when I go on set. should be cheap, micro atx case, i5 motherboard, cheapest i5 chip, 9800 gt, and 6 gb of ram, and a 64 gb SSD should do the trick. should cost only about 500 bux or so. the 24 inch dell, and ultrascope will be the most costly items… but everybody seems to be giving it a good review so I think it’s totally worth it.

how different would it look if i graded in p3, and had it recompressed to a 709 delivery? would it look relatively the same, just certain values clipped? or would it look nothing like i did in p3, and it would only look that way if it was put through a projector with the p3 lut on it?
